Business Details
The Group operates in a single segment: the Wi-Fi/Global eSIM Connectivity Business. It offers its core WiMAX service (accounting for approximately 80% of WirelessGate's standalone sales) for mobile and home routers, and has built a subscription-based recurring revenue model through consumer electronics retailers, agents, and direct EC sales. Subsidiary FREEDiVE offers Mobile WiFi Service (MUGEN WiFi, AIR-WiFi, 5G CONNECT) via EC sales. Going forward, the company has clearly positioned the Global eSIM Service as the core of its growth strategy, aiming to capture demand from inbound visitors to Japan.
Recent Overview
1Q FY2026 recorded net sales of ¥2,764 million and operating profit of ¥116 million, with WiMAX subscriber numbers turning to net growth
For the first quarter of FY2026 (ending December 2026), covering January 1 to March 31, 2026, consolidated net sales were ¥2,764 million (of which WirelessGate standalone was ¥2,275 million and FREEDiVE was ¥489 million), with operating profit of ¥116 million, ordinary profit of ¥116 million, and quarterly net income attributable to owners of parent of ¥75 million. Subscriber numbers for the core WiMAX service turned to net growth at the end of the first quarter, reaching 100.9% of the level at the end of the prior fiscal year. Income tax adjustment resulted in an expense of ¥20 million, with an effective tax rate of approximately 35%. Net assets increased by ¥75 million from the end of the prior fiscal year to ¥1,672 million, and the equity ratio improved from 36.1% to 38.0%. The reportable segment name was changed from "Wireless Broadband-related Business" to "Wi-Fi/Global eSIM Connectivity Business," clarifying the policy of positioning Global eSIM as the core growth driver. The full-year earnings forecast (net sales of ¥11,000 million and operating profit of ¥430 million) remains unchanged.
Key Products
Growth Drivers
- Full-year consolidation of subsidiary FREEDiVE (from FY2026 ending December 2026) is expected to drive achievement of the ¥11,000 million net sales and ¥430 million operating profit targets
- Strengthened sales activities capitalizing on the expanding home router market caused WiMAX subscriber numbers to turn to net growth, reaching 100.9% of the level at the end of the prior fiscal year at the end of 1Q FY2026
- Against a backdrop of resilient inbound demand, the Global eSIM Service is positioned as the core growth driver, with efforts underway to secure first-mover advantage through direct web sales
- Multi-channel expansion through deepened collaboration with sales agents and enhancement of the direct-sales EC site is strengthening new customer acquisition
- Expansion of new category product offerings such as PHILIPS mice and recovery wear is stabilizing earnings and driving renewed growth
- Development of new products such as SIM-free tablets and expanded sales of ancillary services (Virus Buster, Pikapro DX, etc.) are increasing per-customer revenue
Risks
- Intensifying competition in the WiMAX market means that recovery and expansion of cumulative subscriber numbers remains an important ongoing challenge
- Risk of profit pressure from deteriorating macroeconomic conditions such as exchange rate fluctuations, price increases, and rising labor costs
- Impairment risk related to goodwill (¥557 million balance as of the end of March 2026) arising from the acquisition of FREEDiVE: if performance falls significantly short of the business plan at the time of acquisition, this could have a material impact on the financial statements
- The recoverability of deferred tax assets (¥122 million balance as of the end of March 2026) depends on estimates of future taxable income, creating a risk of write-down if performance deteriorates
- Risk of revenue concentration in specific customers (existing reports have noted revenue concentration with GMO Payment Gateway, Inc.)
- The full-year net income forecast of ¥250 million is expected to fall below the prior year's actual result of ¥281 million (down 11.1% year-on-year), presenting a risk of declining profit levels due to the lapse of temporary factors such as additional recognition of deferred tax assets
