Business Details

Provides measurement, analysis, and data management equipment for research and development related to the performance (handling, ride comfort), vibration/noise, and safety/durability of transportation equipment such as automobiles and railways. Also addresses autonomous driving (AD/ADAS), EV performance evaluation, and eVTOL (flying car) development. Key affiliated companies include Toyo Corporation Measurement Systems (Shanghai), Toyo Corporation International, TOYOTech LLC, Rototest International AB (Sweden), and Rototest Europe AB.

Recent Overview

Revenue and profit increased substantially due to recognition of prior-period-deferred orders and a large EV charging project

In H1 FY2026 (October 2025 to March 2026), revenue increased significantly to ¥5,038 million (up 24.8% year on year), driven by the recognition in this period of part of an overseas large-scale evaluation system order for AD/ADAS development that had originally been planned for the prior period, as well as a large EV charging-related project. The recognition of high-margin projects also contributed, resulting in segment profit of ¥1,151 million (up 138.4% year on year), more than doubling. On the other hand, the business performance of automakers, the segment's major customers, has been affected by policies of the U.S. Trump administration, and risks of project delays due to customer investment restraint are beginning to emerge.

Growth Drivers

  • Expectation of revenue recovery driven by the buildup of order backlog of ¥6,986 million (up 45.0% year on year)
  • Continued demand for large-scale evaluation systems for AD/ADAS and autonomous driving development
  • Expansion in the EV & e-mobility field (nationwide rollout of automotive battery evaluation equipment in China, start of OEM supply of fuel cell evaluation systems)
  • Capture of new demand through acquisition of large-scale EV charging-related evaluation system projects
  • Strengthened sales structure in the European market (expansion of Rototest product sales through establishment of a new base in Germany)
  • Business expansion strategy positioning Advanced Mobility as a priority field under the medium-term management plan TY2027

Risks

  • Risk of revenue timing shifts due to customer-related delays in large-scale projects (e.g., delays in construction of buildings/facilities)
  • Risk of customer investment restraint and project delays due to deteriorating automaker performance caused by U.S. Trump administration policies
  • High exposure to foreign exchange fluctuations (especially USD, RMB, and Swedish krona) due to high overseas revenue ratio
  • High sensitivity of performance to capital expenditure trends in the automotive industry
  • Geopolitical risk in East Asia and instability in global supply chains
  • Presence of goodwill balance (mainly related to Rototest), creating impairment risk in the event of business environment deterioration
