Business
Narasaki Sangyo is a long-established specialty trading company group founded in 1902 (incorporated in 1943), comprising the company itself, 9 subsidiaries, and 6 affiliated companies. It operates four segments: Electrical Equipment Business (Power Distribution & Control Equipment, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Cold Storage Equipment, Laser Processing Machines), Machinery Business (Agricultural Facilities, Industrial Machinery, Environmental Equipment & Information Systems), Construction & Energy Business (Building Materials (Cement, Ready-Mixed Concrete, Construction Materials), Petroleum Products & LP Gas, Construction Machinery (Road Milling & Paving Machines, Concrete Pump Trucks, etc.)), and Marine Transport Business (Port Transport & Integrated Sea-Land Transport, Road Transport & Warehousing, Customs Brokerage). While Hokkaido serves as its main base, the company has locations in major cities nationwide and local subsidiaries in China and Vietnam. Consolidated net sales for FY2026 (ending March 2026) were ¥120,282 million.
Business Model
The company secures procurement routes as an authorized distributor for major manufacturers such as Mitsubishi Electric, Sumitomo Osaka Cement, and ENEOS, generating revenue by providing high-value-added products and services to customers across regions. Its marine transport subsidiary, Narasaki Stax, creates logistics synergies by handling everything from port transport to customs brokerage and warehousing on an integrated basis. The four segments function in a mutually complementary manner, forming a stable earnings base underpinned by the group's overall strength.
Company Strengths
Since its founding in 1902, the company has built long-term supply relationships as an authorized dealer for major manufacturers such as Mitsubishi Electric, Sumitomo Osaka Cement, and ENEOS. It operates locations nationwide including Tokyo, Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kyushu, Kanto, Osaka, and Nagoya, and also has local subsidiaries in China and Vietnam. This customer base and sales network, which competitors find difficult to replicate in a short period, underpin the stability of earnings.
The four businesses—Electrical Equipment, Machinery, Construction & Energy, and Marine Transport—are closely interconnected, generating both tangible and intangible synergy effects. For example, the coordination between civil engineering materials supply in the Construction & Energy Business and port logistics in the Marine Transport Business has enabled stable shipments of cement and ready-mixed concrete for the Hokkaido Shinkansen construction project. This comprehensive solution capability, difficult to achieve for a single-business trading company, serves as a key differentiating factor.
As of the end of FY2026 (ending March 2026), the equity ratio stood at 46.4%, well above the medium-term management plan target of 40% or higher. Operating cash flow secured income of ¥3,014 million, and the company continues to work on reducing interest-bearing debt. This high level of financial soundness underpins its capacity for business investment and the stability of shareholder returns.
ENVALITH's Perspective
Performance Trend
Revenue rose for five consecutive fiscal periods, from ¥94,797 million in FY2022 (ended March 2022) to ¥120,282 million in FY2026 (ending March 2026), a CAGR of approximately 6.1%. Operating profit, however, improved only modestly, from ¥2,303 million in FY2022 to ¥3,068 million in FY2026, with operating margin remaining in a narrow range of 2.4%–2.6%. In FY2026, growth was led by the Construction & Energy Business (+8.7%) and the Electrical Equipment Business (+8.7%), although segment profit in the Electrical Equipment Business moved against this trend, declining 13.6% year on year. Externally, demand from Hokkaido Shinkansen construction work and expanding data center investment served as tailwinds, while intensifying competition in the energy field and rising construction costs acted as headwinds. For FY2027 (ending March 2027), operating profit is projected at ¥3,500 million (+14.1%); if realized, this could mark a turning point toward improved profitability.
Growth Strategy
Toward the final year of the medium-term management plan "NS Creation 2026," the company is strengthening profitability through DX/GX responsiveness and selection and concentration of business operations.
Based on business portfolio analysis, management resources are being concentrated on highly profitable business areas. The effects of selection and concentration are becoming apparent in some segments, as seen in the Machinery Business, where segment profit increased significantly by 55.1% year on year (¥417 million).
Expanding products and services that address AI-, DX-, and GX-related demand aimed at improving productivity and decarbonization. In the Electrical Equipment Business, export orders for Laser Processing Machines are progressing steadily against the backdrop of generative AI-related demand, and sales of control equipment and air conditioning equipment for data centers have remained solid.
Continued shipment of civil engineering materials, primarily cement and ready-mixed concrete, for Hokkaido Shinkansen construction, along with responding to infrastructure development demand for national resilience enhancement. Sales in the Construction & Energy Business expanded to ¥62,983 million in FY2026 (ending March 2026) (up 8.7% year on year), and stable sales contribution is expected to continue throughout the construction period.
While maintaining stable dividends as a basic policy, the company implements shareholder returns combining dividend increases in line with earnings performance and share buybacks. The dividend per share was ¥130 (payout ratio of 29.5%) in FY2026 (ending March 2026) and is planned to be ¥140 (projected payout ratio of 28.5%) in FY2027 (ending March 2027), which would mark three consecutive years of dividend increases.
