Business Details
Sells machinery, equipment and parts for energy development and production, gas and oil refining, chemicals, engineering, construction, and paper/pulp-related fields. The Company and certain affiliated companies purchase directly from suppliers for resale, and also procure from subsidiary DAIICHI MECTEC CO., LTD. and affiliate DAIICHI SULZER CO., LTD. The segment handles a broad range of Equipment for Various Plants, Equipment for Biomass Power Plants, and Equipment for Geothermal & Natural Gas Development both domestically and internationally, promoting a "products x solutions" approach leveraging engineering capabilities.
Recent Overview
Sales and profit both declined YoY due to lower sales of domestic plant equipment
In FY2026 (ending March 2026), sales of Equipment for Various Plants for the domestic market declined, resulting in net sales of ¥22,415 million, down ¥1,441 million (-6.0%) year on year. Segment profit (operating profit) also fell short of the prior year, down ¥217 million to ¥1,625 million (-11.8%). While measures such as strengthening engineering capabilities are being promoted under the medium-term management plan "MT2027," the current period was affected by the completion of a cycle of domestic project orders.
Key Products
Growth Drivers
- Expanding demand for domestic and overseas plant equipment (increased sales of equipment for biomass power generation and geothermal/natural gas development)
- Improved capability to handle large-scale and increasingly complex projects through strengthened engineering functions
- Business portfolio optimization and global business expansion under the new medium-term management plan "MT2027"
- Utilization of process simulation and design/manufacturing functions by subsidiary DJ-WAVE Engineering Co., Ltd.
- Enhanced added value through deepening of the "products x solutions" model
Risks
- Net sales and segment profit both declined YoY in FY2026 (ending March 2026) (net sales -6.0%, profit -11.8%), with an unclear outlook for recovery in domestic project demand
- Risk of customers curbing capital expenditure due to US tariff policy and heightened geopolitical risk
- Impact on international project deals from tensions in Japan-China relations or a slowdown in overseas economies
- Demand instability due to fluctuations in energy prices and the resource development investment cycle
- Unamortized goodwill balance of ¥841 million (as of the end of FY2026, ending March 2026), posing impairment risk in the event of a deteriorating business environment
