Business Details
Based on the Wholesale Market Act, this segment conducts wholesale of marine products and their processed goods, primarily operating out of the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market (Toyosu Market). Seven companies participate, centered on Chuo Gyorui Co., Ltd., including Kashiwa Uoichiba Co., Ltd., Funabashi Uoichi Co., Ltd., Hosui Co., Ltd., Suisan Ryutsu Co., Ltd., Sennichi Co., Ltd., and Chuo Foods Co., Ltd. Fresh, frozen, salted/dried and other processed marine products are sourced from around the country and overseas and sold to mass retailers, restaurants, and business-use channels. This core segment accounts for approximately 94% of the Group's consolidated net sales.
Recent Overview
Net sales rose 6.2% year on year to ¥149,281 million, but segment profit fell 6.9% due to higher raw material costs.
In FY2026 (ending March 2026), increased saury landings and rising demand for farmed fish helped secure fresh fish handling volumes roughly on par with the previous year. Increased handling volumes of frozen processed products such as shrimp, crab, and salmon for mass retailers and restaurants pushed up net sales, and segment net sales came to ¥149,281 million (up 6.2% year on year). On the other hand, segment profit declined to ¥1,864 million (down 6.9% year on year) due to rising raw material costs and increased procurement and sales expenses, among other factors. An impairment loss of ¥9 million was also recorded within the Marine Products Wholesale Business segment.

- Pressure on segment profit from soaring raw material prices and increased procurement and sales expenses
- Diversification of marine products distribution outside wholesale markets (expansion of off-market distribution)
- Rising labor costs and other cost increases due to labor shortages
- Uncertainty in economic conditions and rising transportation costs due to U.S. tariff policy and geopolitical risks
- Intensifying competition for procurement due to expanding international demand for marine products
