Business Details
The core business handled by the company itself and its overseas manufacturing/sales subsidiaries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong). It plans, manufactures, and sells electronic products centered on the label writer "TEPRA", living environment products such as disaster prevention goods, and stationery such as Files & STYLE Stationery. ASKUL Corporation and Ecole Ryutsu Group Co., Ltd. are major domestic customers. E-Commerce Business, Overseas Business, and disaster prevention products are positioned as growth areas. This is a core segment accounting for approximately 64% of consolidated net sales.
Recent Overview
Despite the decline in sales, operating income rose 7.9% year on year due to improved margins. Overseas business grew significantly.
For the cumulative nine months of FY2026 (ending June 2026) (June 21, 2025 to March 20, 2026), the Stationery & Office Products Business posted net sales of ¥17,865 million (down 1.9% year on year) and operating income of ¥280 million (up 7.9% year on year). Sluggish sales of the "TEPRA" main unit and the reversal of last year's special demand for disaster prevention products were factors behind the decline in sales. On the other hand, improvement in gross margin and a reduction in the SG&A expense ratio secured an increase in profit. The Overseas Business grew significantly, driven mainly by China and Vietnam. Sales of tape consumables trended solidly.
Key Products
Growth Drivers
- Expansion of Overseas Business: Sales grew significantly, centered on China (Kelita and tOMOKO brands) and Vietnam (deepening of BtoB distribution), positioned as the top priority strategy of the 11th Medium-Term Management Plan
- Increased demand for disaster prevention and living environment products: Market development through the launch of the new brand "KOKOBO" (track record of adoption by government agencies)
- Stable demand for consumables such as tape: Solid trend in tape sales due to measures expanding usage scenarios for "TEPRA" tape (web commercials, promotional activities)
- Growth of the E-Commerce Business: Sales growth through pre-order acceptance of new products and the active introduction of EC-exclusive original products on the company's own direct-sales site
- Improvement in gross profit margin: Improved profitability due to a decline in the SG&A expense ratio (down 0.3 points year on year)
- Market development through new product introductions: Expansion into new categories such as industry-academia collaboration products, the Standard Products collaboration, and the Filing Notebook
Risks
- Progress of paperless initiatives driven by DX: Structural contraction of the core file market continues
- Delayed market penetration of the "TEPRA" main unit: The new model SR-R560 continues to see sales trends below expectations
- Risk of dependence on special demand for disaster prevention products: The reversal of the special demand surge seen in the same period of the previous year weighed on cumulative Q3 results
- Goodwill impairment risk in the Ratsuna business: An impairment loss of ¥116 million was recorded in FY2025 (ended June 2025) (¥172 million in the previous fiscal year)
- Geopolitical risk in the Overseas Business: Concerns over a downturn in the global economy due to tensions in Japan-China relations and the impact of U.S. trade policy
- Rising raw material costs and labor costs: Cost management pressure amid continued increases in consumer prices
