Business Details
The Japan Segment is the Group's principal production and sales base, centered on the Optics Image Processing Visual Inspection System for FPD (flat panel display) manufacturing processes, and also handles MediaNet Equipment. It is responsible for sales in Japan and in Asian regions such as China, South Korea, and Taiwan, and accounts for approximately 66% of consolidated net sales. The major customer is Xiamen Tianma Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. (net sales of ¥689 million in the fiscal year under review, 41.5% of the total), reflecting a structure with high dependence on large-scale projects destined for China.
Recent Overview
Correction to the cash flow statement resulted in downward revisions to investing cash flow and period-end cash balance
Pursuant to a correction disclosure dated May 22, 2026, investing cash flow for FY2026 (ending March 2026) was revised downward from -¥247 million to -¥303 million, and the period-end balance of cash and cash equivalents was revised downward from ¥169 million to ¥113 million. The cause of the correction was an omission of ¥56 million in expenditures for time deposits placed. There was no change to operating cash flow, financing cash flow, or profit/loss figures, and no direct impact on the Japan Segment's performance figures (net sales, loss, assets, etc.) has been disclosed.
Key Products
Growth Drivers
- Increased sales driven by progress in delivery of a large-scale FPD project destined for China (Xiamen Tianma) (¥689 million in the fiscal year under review, up 58.8% year on year)
- New market development for inspection systems targeting high-functionality films, semiconductors, and micro-LEDs
- Acquisition of new customers through the development and expanded sales of image processing-based inspection engines
- Efforts to develop new markets and secure orders for higher value-added projects
Risks
- Sluggish capital expenditure in the FPD market: limited signs of demand recovery and low levels of customer capital expenditure appetite
- Concentration risk on a specific customer: sales to Xiamen Tianma account for 41.5% of consolidated net sales, making performance highly dependent on that company's investment trends
- Sharp decline in order backlog: order backlog at the end of the third quarter of FY2026 (ending March 2026) fell 71.9% year on year to ¥284 million, creating uncertainty over the outlook for future sales recognition
- Material uncertainty regarding going concern assumption: operating losses recorded for seven consecutive fiscal periods, with no clear outlook for securing funds going forward; the auditor has expressed no conclusion. The restated period-end cash balance fell to ¥113 million
- Risk of restrained capital expenditure due to concerns over the outlook for the Chinese economy and instability in the international situation
