Business
Nanyo Co., Ltd. is a comprehensive machinery trading company headquartered in Fukuoka City, comprising the company itself along with 12 subsidiaries and 1 affiliate. Its business consists of three segments: the Construction Machinery Business (sales and rental of construction machinery and industrial vehicles), the Industrial Equipment Business (manufacturing and sales of electronic equipment, hydraulic/pneumatic equipment, etc.), and the Crushed Stone Business (manufacturing and sales of crushed stone). The Industrial Equipment Business accounts for approximately 60% of net sales, and the Construction Machinery Business approximately 39%, with a broad customer base spanning domestic and overseas markets. Overseas, the company operates subsidiaries in China, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Taiwan, and is also pursuing business expansion into the ASEAN region. Since its founding in 1953, the company has undergone repeated business transformations—from coal mining operations to the crushed stone business and then to a comprehensive machinery trading company—and has expanded its scope of business to include semiconductor manufacturing equipment and the robotics field.
Business Model
In the Construction Machinery Business, the company combines sales and rental to secure earnings stability against economic fluctuations. In the Industrial Equipment Business, in addition to trading company functions (procurement and sales), the company has manufacturing subsidiaries (Todaka Seisakusho, ASAP, AQUAPASS, Apriori, etc.) under its umbrella, pursuing synergies through vertical integration of manufacturing and sales. Expansion of business areas and strengthening of product lineups through M&A are contributing to the expansion of the earnings base.
Company Strengths
In the Industrial Equipment Business, in addition to its trading company function, the Company has manufacturing subsidiaries including Todaka Seisakusho, ASAP, AQUAPASS, and Apriori (consolidated as a subsidiary in FY2026 (ending March 2026)), building an integrated framework from product development through sales. In FY2026 (ending March 2026), sales in the Industrial Equipment Business reached ¥21,988 million, accounting for approximately 60% of consolidated net sales, making it the core segment.
The Construction Machinery Business has a dual structure combining the Company's sales function with the rental function provided by Nanyo Rentec. In FY2026 (ending March 2026), segment profit in the Construction Machinery Business was ¥2,118 million (up 11.8% year on year), reflecting improved profitability driven by strengthened sales of high-margin products and the rental division's capture of demand from private-sector construction projects.
As of the end of FY2026 (ending March 2026), the equity ratio stood at 65.2% (up 2.9 percentage points year on year), and cash and cash equivalents totaled ¥10,465 million, securing sufficient liquidity. Interest-bearing debt, including lease obligations, remained low at ¥1,780 million, while ROA of 7.3% and ROE of 8.9% both exceeded the Company's own targets (ROA of 6% or higher and ROE of 8% or higher).
ENVALITH's Perspective
Performance Trend
Revenue peaked at ¥39,339 million in FY2023 (ended March 2023) and has since continued to adjust, with FY2026 (ending March 2026) revenue reaching ¥36,815 million (up 0.8% year on year), remaining in a flat range. Operating income came to ¥2,809 million, down 1.5% year on year, weighed down by an increase in selling, general and administrative expenses (from ¥4,897 million to ¥5,091 million). On the other hand, the recording of extraordinary income comprising a gain on sale of investment securities of ¥339 million and a gain on negative goodwill of ¥100 million lifted net income to ¥2,356 million, up 15.6% year on year. In terms of the external environment, subdued capital expenditure weighed heavily on the Industrial Equipment Business, while the Construction Machinery Business benefited from infrastructure repair demand and saw increased profit. For FY2027 (ending March 2027), the company forecasts revenue of ¥40,000 million (up 8.6% year on year) and operating income of ¥3,000 million (up 6.8%), but with the drop-off of extraordinary gains, net income is projected to decline 4.5% to ¥2,250 million.
Growth Strategy
Three pillars: strengthening the Construction Machinery Business foundation, expanding the Industrial Equipment Business into the AI/robotics field, and improving capital efficiency
Continuing to expand sales of new products related to social infrastructure repair and to develop new markets, while focusing in the rental division on efficiency gains through reorganization of sales territories and building a system for providing higher-quality services. In FY2026 (ending March 2026), net sales increased 5.2% and segment profit increased 11.8%, showing that the effects of these initiatives are reflected in the results.
Promoting strengthened proposal-based sales that accurately capture increased production demand in the generative AI, data center, semiconductor, and robotics markets, as well as strengthening group product sales through the pursuit of synergies with the manufacturing subsidiary. In FY2026 (ending March 2026), segment profit declined 15.7% due to the impact of restrained capital expenditure, and a shift toward a market recovery phase is a precondition for the full realization of the effects of this initiative.
In FY2026 (ending March 2026), the company acquired Apriori Corporation as a consolidated subsidiary of the Industrial Equipment Business (acquisition expenditure of ¥247 million). A gain on negative goodwill of ¥100 million was recorded, reflecting a favorable acquisition price. Synergy effects from the business integration of this company are expected to emerge from the next fiscal period onward, but no gain on negative goodwill is factored into the FY2027 (ending March 2027) forecast.
In FY2026 (ending March 2026), the company acquired ¥372 million of treasury shares (nearly zero in the previous period), increasing the number of treasury shares at fiscal year-end to 983,794 shares (729,909 shares in the previous period). The annual dividend was increased to ¥68 (from ¥58 in the previous period), maintaining a payout ratio of 35.8% and a dividend-to-net-assets ratio (DOE) of 3.2%. For FY2027 (ending March 2027), a dividend of ¥65 is forecast (payout ratio of 35.4%).
