Business Details

This segment manufactures and sells water-related equipment such as sanitary ware, shower toilets (warm-water washlets), Faucets & Fittings, bathtubs, unit baths, smart products, and showers, in addition to tile-based building materials for residential and commercial buildings. Its primary customer base spans the domestic renovation market and overseas markets centered on Europe, the Middle East, and India, and it leverages a global brand portfolio including the GROHE brand to expand sales of high-value-added products. It is a core segment accounting for approximately 54% of LIXIL Group's consolidated revenue.

Recent Overview

Revenue and profit increased on steady domestic renovation demand and improvement in Europe, while the US and China remained sluggish

In the fiscal year under review (April 2025 to March 2026), sales of sanitary ware and bathroom products for renovation trended steadily in Japan, contributing to revenue growth. Overseas, sales volume increased in most categories in Europe, including Faucets & Fittings, and steady demand expansion continued in the Middle East and India. On the other hand, in the US, sales declined due to the prior-year transfer of the bathtub business and a delayed recovery in renovation market demand, while in China the real estate market downturn continued, resulting in overseas sales being roughly flat overall. As a result, revenue was ¥811,052 million (up 0.8% year on year) and business profit was ¥45,438 million (up 23.3% year on year), achieving a significant increase in profit. Impairment losses increased to ¥3,986 million (from ¥2,840 million in the prior period).

Growth Drivers

  • Steady demand for sanitary ware and bathroom products in the domestic renovation market
  • Improved profitability from the effect of optimizing domestic selling prices (price revisions)
  • Expanded market share in the high-end category and increased sales volume through strengthening of the GROHE brand in Europe
  • Continued solid expansion of demand in the growth markets of the Middle East and India
  • Cost reduction effects from structural reforms (personnel allocation and sales strategy optimization) in overseas operations

Risks

  • Delayed recovery in US renovation market demand and decline in sales associated with the bathtub business transfer
  • Downward pressure on overseas operations from the prolonged downturn in the Chinese real estate market
  • Cost increases due to elevated prices of materials, energy, and components
  • Foreign exchange risk (high proportion of overseas sales results in significant impact from yen conversion)
  • Supply chain disruption risk from US trade policy (reciprocal tariff measures, etc.) and geopolitical risks
