Business Details
A business that builds and provides a multi-functional platform based on point functionality, aimed at improving product UX and profitability. Currently, surveys and advertising are the main sources of revenue. Surveys are offered through a market research platform leveraging ASIA Cloud Panel, deployed domestically and internationally for research firms and general business companies. Advertising is delivered through internet ad distribution services using proprietary apps such as Town WiFi byGMO as media. Following the integration of GMO Town WiFi in April 2025, the business scope was expanded, and the former Internet Research Business was redefined and incorporated into the newly named "Product Platform Business."
Recent Overview
In Q1 of FY2026 (ending December 2026), revenue rose 51.5% year-on-year and operating profit swung to a significant profit
Revenue for the first quarter (January–March) of FY2026 (ending December 2026) was ¥1,997 million (up 51.5% year-on-year), and operating profit was ¥383 million (compared to △¥89 million in the same period of the prior year), achieving a swing to profitability. Advertising revenue expanded sharply to ¥819 million (versus ¥4 million in the same period of the prior year) due to the full-year contribution from the GMO Town WiFi integration, while survey revenue decreased to ¥1,083 million (down 17.5% year-on-year) as structural reforms to improve profitability were advanced. Other revenue of ¥93 million was recorded following the consolidation of GMO STOCK POINT as a subsidiary. There is no change to the full-year earnings forecast (revenue of ¥7,087 million, operating profit of ¥731 million), and Q1 progress rates of 28.2% for revenue and 52.5% for operating profit indicate steady progress.
Key Products
Growth Drivers
- Full-scale expansion of advertising revenue driven by the full-year contribution from the GMO Town WiFi integration (¥819 million recorded in Q1 of FY2026 (ending December 2026))
- Significant improvement in gross margin and operating margin through structural reform of the survey business (transition from a labor-intensive model to a high-profitability model)
- Enhanced added value of point investment services and strengthened user engagement through the group integration of GMO STOCK POINT
- Higher added value for survey services through AI-powered services such as DepthX byGMO
- Capturing research demand in overseas markets through the expansion of ASIA Cloud Panel (approximately 64.06 million people across 16 countries and regions in Asia)
- Diversification of advertising media and strengthening of the advertising revenue base through expansion of the proprietary app portfolio (Shift Techo, Oshite Nan-nichi?, etc.)
Risks
- Temporary decline in survey revenue due to structural reform (down 17.5% year-on-year in Q1 of FY2026 (ending December 2026))
- Risk that advertising revenue, concentrated through ad networks, is affected by fluctuations in the advertising market environment
- Risk that profit contribution from GMO STOCK POINT will be preceded by expenses in the short term
- Risk of continued high financial leverage given the low equity ratio of 25.6%
- Foreign exchange risk associated with overseas operations, including foreign exchange losses (¥14 million recorded in Q1 of FY2026 (ending December 2026))
- Risk of increased group management costs following the transition to a holding company structure
