Business

GMO Product Platform, Inc. is a holding company (became a holding company in October 2025) that operates the Product Platform Business built on a points-based foundation, under the vision of "increasing the number of good products in the world." It has 10 subsidiaries under its umbrella, including GMO Research & AI (surveys), GMO Town WiFi (advertising), GMO User Research Platform (DepthX byGMO), and GMO STOCK POINT (Stock Price-Linked Point Investment Service). In Survey Services, the company holds Japan's largest panel, Japan Cloud Panel (38.41 million people), as well as ASIA Cloud Panel, covering more than 32.17 million people across 15 Asian countries and regions, providing a wide range of research solutions to research firms, business enterprises, government agencies, and others. In Advertising Services, the company delivers internet advertising through its proprietary apps such as "Town WiFi byGMO" and "Cashmart byGMO" as media. Its major customers span a wide range, including domestic and overseas research firms, general business enterprises, and government agencies.

Business Model

In the Survey Business, the company earns outsourced revenue from research firms and business companies through outsourcing services (Full Service / Sample Supply) that provide access to large-scale domestic and international survey panels, as well as DIY services (Self Sample Supply / GMO Market Observer). In the Advertising Business, the company delivers internet advertising via its proprietary smartphone app portfolio (Town WiFi byGMO, Cashmart byGMO, etc.) as media, enhancing user engagement through point rewards. The point function serves as a common infrastructure spanning both businesses, and the structure aims to improve UX and diversify revenue through the addition of platform features (DepthX byGMO, Stock Price-Linked Point Investment Service, etc.).

Company Strengths

The domestic research panel, Japan Cloud Panel, surpassed 38.41 million members (as of end-January 2026), the largest scale in Japan. Overseas, ASIA Cloud Panel holds over 32.17 million members across 15 countries and regions. This industry-leading panel scale in Asia forms the foundation of competitive advantage and underpins the order base from domestic and overseas research firms and business companies.

Following the business combination with GMO Town WiFi Inc. via share exchange in April 2025, advertising revenue increased significantly from ¥30,903 thousand in the previous period to ¥2,166,654 thousand. This pushed total net sales up 35.7% year on year to ¥6,818 million. For FY2026 (ending December 2026), full-year contribution is expected from the first quarter, with further room for expansion.

Gross profit for FY2025 (ending December 2025) rose 50.3% year on year to ¥3,825,769 thousand, exceeding the rate of net sales growth (35.7%), reflecting improved cost efficiency. Cash flows from operating activities expanded approximately 4.2-fold to ¥990,783 thousand from ¥237,505 thousand in the previous period, strengthening the foundation for self-funded business operations.

ENVALITH's Perspective

In Q1 FY2026 (ending December 2026), net sales came in at ¥1,997 million (up 51.5% year on year) and operating profit was ¥383 million, marking a swing to profit from an operating loss of ¥89 million in the same period last year—a substantial improvement. Against the full-year forecast (net sales of ¥7,087 million and operating profit of ¥731 million), Q1 progress rates stood at a high 28.2% for net sales and 52.5% for operating profit. The full-year contribution of the advertising business and the effects of the survey business's structural reform are materializing earlier than expected, and the likelihood of achieving the full-year forecast is judged to be high.

Against ordinary profit of ¥352 million in Q1, profit attributable to owners of the parent came to only ¥192 million, with the effective tax rate at a high level of approximately 45%. Total non-operating expenses of ¥35 million (including foreign exchange losses of ¥14 million and investment valuation losses of ¥16 million, among others) weighed on ordinary profit. As an external factor, foreign exchange risk continues, and the structural tendency for foreign exchange losses to arise in the survey business, which has a high proportion of overseas operations, warrants ongoing attention.

The equity ratio at the end of Q1 FY2026 (ending December 2026) remained at a low 25.6% (25.7% at the end of the previous fiscal year). Against total assets of ¥9,344 million, total liabilities stood at ¥6,927 million, with accounts payable of ¥4,974 million accounting for the majority. Intangible assets such as goodwill (¥572 million) and patent rights (¥55 million) arising from M&A have also been accumulating, and the rise in financial leverage accompanying the shift to a holding company structure and group expansion requires continued monitoring. Dividends are forecast to increase to ¥64.21 per share for FY2026 (ending December 2026), up from ¥59.52 in the previous fiscal year.

Growth Strategy

Aiming for sustainable growth through platform function expansion via M&A and improved profitability in the survey business

Advertising revenue began to accelerate following the conversion of the company into a wholly owned subsidiary in April 2025. In Q1 FY2026 (ending March 2026), advertising revenue amounted to ¥819 million, and revenue contribution is now gaining momentum with a full-year impact. The company will strengthen its advertising revenue base by expanding its proprietary app portfolio and diversifying advertising media.

GMO Research & AI, Inc. is promoting the elimination of low-profitability projects and the pursuit of higher value-added services through AI utilization (including DepthX byGMO). The gross profit margin improved to 63.5% in Q1, demonstrating the emerging effects of the structural reform.

GMO STOCK POINT Co., Ltd. joined the group as of the end of the previous fiscal year. Its proprietary service (patented) allowing points to be invested in a manner linked to stock prices will be integrated with the group's point-based platform, enhancing user engagement and added value. Other revenue of ¥93 million was recorded in Q1.
