Business Details
This segment manufactures and sells pizza, naan, pita bread, focaccia, tortilla and other "breads of the world," as well as processed cheese products. It operates on two axes: commercial use (restaurant market, wholesalers) and household use (supermarkets, co-ops, EC). Although affected by the fire at the Chiba plant in October 2024, all production lines resumed operation in September 2025. The company newly established the "Yakumo Pizza Kobo" in Yakumo Town, Hokkaido, expanding high-value-added products. Overseas, the company is developing an import/export business in cooperation with partner companies in Lithuania and the U.S.
Recent Overview
Turned profitable following full resumption of all Chiba plant production lines; capital expenditure also increased significantly
Due to the partial suspension of sales of certain products caused by the fire at the Chiba plant in October 2024, net sales were ¥11,589 million (down 5.9% year on year), but segment profit turned significantly positive at ¥885 million (compared to a loss of ¥193 million in the prior period). All production lines resumed operation in September 2025, and the company began full-scale efforts to inform customers and expand sales. The increase in tangible and intangible fixed assets rose significantly to ¥745 million year on year, reflecting progress in recovery and capacity-enhancing investments. Fire-related losses recorded include a fire loss of ¥23 million in extraordinary losses and operation-suspension-related expenses of ¥111 million in non-operating expenses.
Key Products
Growth Drivers
- Full recovery of supply capacity through the resumption of all Chiba plant production lines (September 2025) and full-scale sales expansion activities to customers
- Steady progress in the commercial-use segment (restaurant market, wholesalers) and demand expansion driven by increasing inbound tourism demand
- Improved profitability through expanded sales of high-value-added products such as "HOKKAIDO PIZZA"
- Improved cost structure and productivity through price revisions and item consolidation
- Expansion of overseas business (import/export): accelerated export transactions driven by yen depreciation, growth in frozen cheese sales to the U.S.
- Expansion into untapped sales channels such as deli manufacturers serving supermarkets/convenience stores and ready-to-eat meal (deli, bakery) businesses
Risks
- Continued profit pressure from rising raw material prices, logistics costs, and labor costs
- Sluggish demand in the household segment due to growing consumer thrift and preference for low prices
- Maintaining stable operations after the restart of the Chiba plant (risk of fire recurrence or equipment trouble)
- Risk of reduced transactions with major customers (pizza chains, etc.)
- Foreign exchange fluctuations (rising import raw material costs due to yen depreciation) and prolonged instability in the international situation
- Uncertainty regarding the final profit and loss impact of fire-related expenses, as the amount and timing of insurance claim payments have not yet been determined
