Business
Delsole Corporation, founded in 1964 as a pioneer of pizza in Japan, operates two segments: the Food Business (net sales of ¥11,589 million), which manufactures and sells frozen pizza, naan, pita bread, tortillas and other "World Breads," and the Restaurant Business (net sales of ¥3,069 million), which develops takeout and restaurant formats such as premium skewer-grilled items and Omedetai-yaki. Its main customers span the commercial-use segment, including the restaurant industry and wholesalers, as well as the household-use segment, including food supermarkets and consumer co-ops. The company manufactures products at a three-plant system in Tama, Chiba, and Kyushu, and is listed on the Standard Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Business Model
In the Food Business, the company manufactures pizza, Ethnic Bread (Naan, Pita Bread, Focaccia, Tortilla), and other products at three plants in Tama, Chiba, and Kyushu, generating revenue through both wholesale for commercial use to the restaurant industry and household-use sales to supermarkets and consumer co-ops. In the Restaurant Business, it operates takeout and Restaurant Outlets (Restaurants, Izakaya) through directly-operated and franchise formats, with FC royalties and other sources also contributing to revenue. In its overseas business, the company also pursues revenue diversification through import/export transactions.
Company Strengths
Obtained FSSC22000 certification at the Tama and Chiba plants and ISO22000 certification at the Kyushu plant, operating a food safety management system incorporating the HACCP system. This advanced quality control framework based on international standards is backed by over 60 years of manufacturing track record since the company's founding in 1964, forming the foundation for continuous business relationships with major restaurant chains and wide-area wholesale distributors.
Manufactures a diverse product lineup covering "breads of the world," including pizza, naan, pita, tortillas, and focaccia, across 3 plants. Following the fire at the Chiba plant in October 2024, company-wide recovery efforts led to the resumption of operations at all production lines in September 2025. The company also newly established the "Yakumo Pizza Workshop" in Yakumo Town, Hokkaido, securing a production base for the high-value-added product "HOKKAIDO PIZZA."
While centering on the commercial-use segment for the restaurant industry and wide-area wholesale distributors, the company maintains diverse sales channels including household use for supermarkets and consumer co-ops, its own EC site and antenna shops, furusato nozei (hometown tax donation) programs, department store events, and overseas import/export. Sales to Nippon Access, Inc. totaled ¥1,550 million (10.6% of total sales performance) in the fiscal year under review, maintaining its relationship with this key business partner.
ENVALITH's Perspective
Performance Trend
Net sales peaked at ¥17,785 million in FY2024, then declined for two consecutive fiscal years to ¥15,404 million in FY2025 and ¥14,620 million in FY2026. Operating profit also continued to decline, from ¥1,220 million in FY2024 to ¥561 million in FY2025 and ¥430 million in FY2026. The main cause was the fire at the Chiba plant in October 2024, which directly hit sales through the suspension of sales and reduction of shipments of some products. In terms of the external environment, rising costs for raw materials, labor, and logistics have been squeezing profitability, and the strengthening of consumers' thrift-oriented behavior has also suppressed demand in the household-use segment. The company posted a net loss of ¥422 million in FY2025 (ending March 2025), but returned to profitability with net income of ¥212 million in FY2026 (ending March 2026).
Growth Strategy
Aiming for growth through three pillars—expanded commercial-use sales, franchise development, and overseas business—starting from full recovery of production capacity
All manufacturing lines at the Chiba plant, which had been halted due to the fire in October 2024, resumed operation in September 2025. The company will fully leverage the recovered production capacity to swiftly reclaim market share lost due to sales suspensions, and will ramp up sales expansion activities for both commercial and household use.
The company is strengthening solution-oriented proposal sales utilizing its "World Breads" product lineup targeted at the restaurant industry facing labor shortages, as well as deli manufacturers serving supermarkets and convenience stores. It also aims to enter the untapped Products for Ready-to-Eat Meals (Deli, Bakery, Vendors) business.
Positioning the takeout format "Omedetai-yaki Honpo" as a growth driver, the company is ramping up franchise expansion in addition to pop-up store openings at department stores and commercial facilities. It will restructure its earnings structure by closing all five outlets of Shanghai Express (Delivery Format).
Taking advantage of the weak yen, the company is accelerating export transactions, strengthening growth in frozen cheese sales to the U.S. and expanding its approach to new markets such as Southeast Asia. It will continue frozen bread sales in Europe with its Lithuanian partner, aiming to grow overseas business into a new core pillar of the company.
The company is promoting systematization and AI utilization across a wide range of areas, including sales and sales data analysis, production sites, and back-office operations. Alongside strengthening information security and improving BCP responsiveness, it will build a management system that enables swift, data-driven management decision-making.
