Business
Goodpatch Inc., founded in 2011, is a UI/UX design specialist company with the vision of "Advancing the world through design that moves hearts." Its core Design Partner Business provides design support in project form, working in unison with client companies across three domains—Experience Design (UI/UX), Brand Experience, and Business Design—under quasi-delegation contracts. As a peripheral business, the company also operates the Design Platform Business, which includes "ReDesigner," a recruitment agency specializing in designer placements, and "Strap," an online whiteboard tool. The Group consists of six companies in total: the parent company, three consolidated subsidiaries, and two equity-method affiliates, and is listed on the Growth Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Business Model
The Design Partner Business primarily earns revenue through monthly-based quasi-mandate contracts. The KPI is the product of "number of client companies" and "average monthly revenue per client," and for the full fiscal year ended August 2025, the company achieved 62.0 client companies and an average monthly revenue per client of ¥6,075 thousand. In addition to 149 full-time designers, the company flexibly expands its resources through "Goodpatch Anywhere," which has 635 registered freelancers. The Design Platform Business generates complementary revenue through recruitment placement fees and SaaS subscriptions.
Company Strengths
In FY2025 (ended August 2025), the number of client companies reached 62.0 (up 19.4% year on year), and the average monthly customer unit price rose to ¥6,075 thousand (up 10.5% year on year), expanding in both directions. Net sales reached ¥5,086 million (up 29.0% year on year), confirming that the company has achieved both a deeper customer base and higher unit prices simultaneously.
As of the end of August 2025, the design division had 149 full-time employees, while 635 freelance designers were registered with Goodpatch Anywhere (of which 50 were actively engaged). The company has built a system that combines quality assurance for projects through full-time staff with flexible resource adjustment through freelance utilization, enabling it to respond to expanding order volumes.
By integrating the creative and branding capabilities of Studio Details Inc., which became a subsidiary in December 2021, the company has established a system capable of providing seamless services ranging from UI/UX design to brand strategy. In FY2025 (ended August 2025) as well, this integration, including Studio Details, has contributed to the expansion of both client count and unit price.
ENVALITH's Perspective
Performance Trend
From FY2021 to FY2025, revenue expanded from ¥2,741 million to ¥5,086 million, and in FY2025 operating profit staged a major recovery to ¥557 million. However, in the cumulative nine months (Q1–Q3) of FY2026 (ending August 2026), revenue was ¥3,847 million (up 0.3% year on year) and operating profit was ¥330 million (down 35.2% year on year), with growth pausing. The main cause was an increase in SG&A expenses from aggressive designer hiring. In terms of the external environment, demand for DX and AI investment has continued, but the conclusion of spot projects pushed down unit prices. The full-year forecast of ¥5,600 million in revenue and ¥560 million in operating profit remains unchanged. Q4 alone will need to generate approximately ¥1,753 million in revenue and approximately ¥230 million in operating profit, and whether this can be achieved is the key focal point.
Growth Strategy
Expanding business scope through the "Design × AI" strategy, M&A, and deeper platform development
The company is prioritizing the acquisition of AI-related projects and accumulating know-how, while pursuing both speed and quality through the application of AI across various design operations. It is also promoting internal AI literacy improvement in parallel, aiming to improve unit prices by providing high-value-added services.
The number of designers in the in-house design organization was expanded to 168 (up 12.0% year-on-year) as of the end of the third quarter of FY2026 (ending August 2026). This has strengthened the company's ability to respond to a wide range of industries and business types, supporting the maintenance of the highest-ever number of client companies (64.7 companies). However, increased recruitment costs and personnel expenses have put short-term pressure on profits.
In the third quarter of FY2026 (ending August 2026), Layermate Inc. was newly added to the scope of consolidation, achieving business expansion into the AI product domain. Integration effects with Studio Details also continue, driving diversification of value provided through M&A.
Through the enhancement of "ReDesigner"'s direct recruiting function and the provision of AI solutions via "Strap," revenue of ¥295 million (up 0.6% year-on-year) was secured; however, the operating loss widened to ¥50 million (compared with a loss of ¥29 million in the same period of the previous year). Achieving profitability remains an ongoing challenge.
