Business Details
This segment manufactures and sells Ferrite Core (Magnetic Materials), a magnetic material, as well as Coils & Transformers. In addition to domestic manufacturing (the Company), it operates overseas production through its Chinese subsidiary, Zhuhai Futian Electronics Co., Ltd., and an overseas sales network via TOMITA FERRITE LTD. Its primary customer markets are EVs, information and communications, industrial equipment, medical devices, and energy conservation/environmental fields, with sales in Japan, Asia (China, Hong Kong, Singapore, etc.), and Europe. It accounts for approximately 96.0% of consolidated net sales and is the core segment, but has continued to record operating losses.
Recent Overview
Net sales increased 27.5% year-on-year due to improved domestic inventory adjustment and solid EV demand in China

In the domestic market, the prolonged customer inventory adjustment improved, leading to a recovery in orders, while in the Chinese market, EV-related automotive demand remained solid. The segment loss was ¥13 million, a significant improvement from the loss of ¥79 million in the same period of the prior year. The Real Estate Leasing Business (net sales of ¥17 million, segment profit of ¥13 million) continued to complement earnings.
Key Products
Growth Drivers
- Solid trend in demand for Ferrite Core from the Chinese EV market
- Improvement in customer inventory adjustments and recovery in orders in the Japanese market
- Improved profitability due to a lower cost of sales ratio (from 85.0% in the same period of the prior year to 70.2% in the current period)
- Continued development of new customers in the EV, information and communications, medical device, and energy conservation fields
- Ongoing efforts to reduce manufacturing costs and improve quality
Risks
- Risk of continued weak external demand from industrial equipment, machine tools, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment sectors
- Risk of demand suppression due to an economic slowdown in China and the real estate downturn
- Risk of rising energy prices and cost pressure due to worsening conditions in the Middle East
- Risk of deteriorating profitability due to intense global price competition
- Foreign exchange risk (given the high proportion of overseas production and sales)
- Risk of recording valuation losses due to declining profitability of inventory
