Business

Denyo Co., Ltd. is a specialist manufacturer of industrial electrical machinery and equipment founded in 1948, engaged in the manufacturing and sale of Engine Generators, Engine Welders, Engine Compressors, and other products. Domestically, the company holds the top market share in portable generators and welders, and also handles Emergency Generators (Stationary) for disaster prevention and general power outage use. Overseas, the company operates manufacturing and sales bases in the United States, Asia, and Europe, with sales to the North American rental market serving as the primary source of overseas revenue. Its main customers are construction, leasing, and rental companies, general corporations, and medical and public facilities, with sales conducted primarily indirectly through trading companies, distributors, and construction equipment rental companies. The group, consisting of 11 consolidated subsidiaries and 1 affiliated company, recorded group sales of ¥72,244 million (FY2026, ending March 2026).

Business Model

The company manufactures products at its own factories in Japan and overseas, and sells them through distribution networks including dealers, trading companies, and construction equipment rental companies. Denyo Kosan handles after-sales services such as repair parts sales and maintenance inspections, generating recurring maintenance revenue by leveraging a nationwide network of designated service factories. Building on stable earnings from the domestic construction-related market, the company positions Emergency Generator (Stationary) and overseas markets as growth areas, forming a structure aimed at diversifying revenue.

Company Strengths

Denyo maintains the top share in portable generators and Engine Welders within the domestic construction-related market. Since developing Japan's first high-speed Engine Welder in 1959, the company has built the "Denyo" brand through many years of product supply track record. It holds 507 industrial property rights in total in Japan and overseas, and product characteristics such as high quality, low noise, and low emissions serve as differentiating factors versus competitors.

Denyo has built an after-sales service network with designated service factories (authorized repair agents) throughout Japan. It newly established the Kanto Service Center in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture in March 2023, and the West Japan Service Center in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture in April 2025, establishing large-scale repair bases in both the eastern and western regions. After-sales service revenue such as repair parts sales and maintenance inspections (other sales of ¥7,093 million, up 6.4% year on year) functions as a stable revenue source.

In addition to domestic plants (Fukui Plant and Shiga Sub-Plant), Denyo has manufacturing bases in the United States (Denyo Manufacturing Corporation), Vietnam, and Indonesia. It also has Asian sales bases in Singapore and Vietnam, among others, and a European sales base in the Netherlands, building a global sales and manufacturing network, including securing sales of ¥17,157 million (approximately 23.7% of total sales) for the North American rental market via a single customer (MultiquipInc.).

ENVALITH's Perspective

In FY2026 (ending March 2026), the company posted revenue of ¥72,244 million (up 2.1% year on year), operating income of ¥7,757 million (up 4.9%), and ordinary income of ¥8,526 million (up 6.5%), showing steady improvement at the operating and ordinary income levels. On the other hand, net income attributable to owners of the parent slightly declined to ¥5,640 million (down 0.1%). The main cause was the shrinkage of income tax adjustment from ¥-243 million in the previous period to ¥-0 million, which highlighted a structural issue where growth in pre-tax income does not readily translate into net income growth—something that warrants close attention.

Of the U.S. segment's external customer sales of ¥17,157 million, the structure in which sales to the key customer, Multiquip Inc., account for the entirety remains unchanged, and the risk of dependence on a single customer continues. In addition, the impact of U.S. trade policy (tariffs) has not been incorporated into the earnings forecast at this time, and the company itself acknowledges that the situation remains fluid. As an external factor, developments in geopolitical risk and protectionist trade policy are increasing uncertainty regarding business performance, and investors should continue to monitor the situation closely.

The annual dividend for FY2026 (ending March 2026) is ¥100 per share (up 33% from ¥75 in the previous period), with a payout ratio of 36.2%. The forecast for FY2027 (ending March 2027) is ¥120 per share (payout ratio of 41.1%), a further increase, maintaining the progressive dividend policy. In addition, in May 2026 the company resolved to conduct a share buyback of up to 280 thousand shares and ¥1,000 million. This proactive shareholder return, in line with the policy targeting a total payout ratio of around 40%, can be evaluated positively; however, operating cash flow declined substantially from ¥7,315 million in the previous period to ¥4,475 million, and the sustainability of the capacity for such returns will depend on future business performance.

Growth Strategy

Toward the final year of Denyo2026, pursuing growth through three pillars: domestic emergency generators, North America, and new-frontier products

Promoting stronger order intake for emergency generators against a backdrop of disaster-preparedness and BCP demand. Maximizing the investment effect of the new Nishihatsu head office plant (operational from January 2025) and strengthening collaboration among the three domestic group companies, shipments of stationary generators remained generally solid in FY2026 (ending March 2026). Expansion of maintenance revenue is also being pursued in parallel.

Following the completion of inventory adjustments in the U.S. rental market, shipments from the U.S. plant shifted to an increasing trend from the second half of FY2026 (ending March 2026). Capturing solid North American construction demand driven by data center-related investment, the company continued to expand shipments, centered on large-capacity units. The United States segment confirmed a recovery, with net sales of ¥17,157 million (up 5.6% year on year).

The Asia segment struggled in FY2026 (ending March 2026), with net sales of ¥4,110 million (down 8.1% year on year), due to sluggish demand in Hong Kong and Thailand and a decline in shipments from the Vietnam plant. While demand from resource-producing countries remained resilient, strengthening and enhancing distributor and service networks, as well as expanding into untapped Global South markets (including through M&A), remain ongoing challenges.

With a view toward a decarbonized society, the company continues to promote research and development of new-frontier products, including hydrogen-fueled generators. This is positioned as a challenge area toward achieving the long-term vision for fiscal year 2035, with preparations for sales, service, and production systems proceeding in parallel. At present, the products have not yet reached the stage of social implementation.

Under a total payout ratio target of around 40%, the company continued its progressive dividend policy, with an annual dividend of ¥100 per share in FY2026 (ending March 2026) (up 33% year on year) and a projected ¥120 per share in FY2027 (ending March 2027). In May 2026, the company resolved to conduct a share buyback of up to 280 thousand shares and ¥1,000 million, aiming to improve capital efficiency and enhance profit distribution.
