Business Model

Revenue growth peaked in FY2023 (ending February 2023), followed by continued adjustment through FY2025 and FY2026 (ending February 2025 and February 2026). However, Q1 FY2027 (ending February 2027) saw revenue turn positive at ¥138,982 million (+10.6% YoY). The main external driver was expanding investment related to semiconductors and data centers. Meanwhile, operating profit fell sharply to ¥8,486 million (-19.2% YoY). This reflected the combined impact of production disruptions from core system migration, higher indirect costs, and European business restructuring expenses. The full-year forecast (revenue of ¥580,000 million, operating profit of ¥60,000 million) remains unchanged. Operating profit over the past five fiscal years has been on a declining trend since peaking at ¥68,301 million in FY2023 (ending February 2023), and achieving the full-year forecast will require a significant improvement in profitability in the second half.
Growth Strategy
Three pillars: deepening i³-Mechatronics solutions, strengthening the global production system, and commercializing new application domains
The company is advancing a core system migration aimed at strengthening its management foundation. In the first quarter of FY2027 (ending February 2027), the impact on production operations from the migration significantly weighed on operating profit; however, the full-year earnings forecast has been maintained while carefully monitoring the pace of system adoption, and a recovery in earnings is expected from the second quarter onward as production normalizes.
The company is strengthening its response to AI, semiconductor, and data center-related demand for AC servo motors, controllers, and inverters. In the first quarter of FY2027 (ending February 2027), the Motion Control segment achieved higher revenue and significantly higher profit across all global regions, while the global rollout of iCube Control is also advancing total solution proposals.
In response to the slowdown in the European automotive market, structural reform costs were recorded in the first quarter of FY2027 (ending February 2027). A bottoming-out of demand across manufacturing industries and a recovery in automation demand for semiconductor and general industrial applications have been observed, and improving the profitability of the European business through structural reform remains a medium-term challenge.
The company is accelerating its expansion into previously unautomated areas such as food, medical, and biomedical applications. It is promoting the development of the biomedical market centered on "Maholo" and the creation of use cases through partner collaboration. The start of operations at the No. 5 plant at the Yahatanishi Business Center (integrated motor and robot production) is also expected to improve production efficiency and profitability.
