Business

MinebeaMitsumi Inc. is a comprehensive precision components manufacturer engaged in ball bearings, motors, semiconductors, automotive parts, and other products. The company comprises the parent company and 146 subsidiaries, and operates four businesses: Precision Technologies, Motors, Lighting & Sensing, Semiconductor & Electronics, and Access Solutions. Its major customers include data center, aircraft, automotive, and smartphone manufacturers, with the Apple Group (11.3% of net sales) and Nintendo (12.5% of net sales) disclosed as key business partners. Production sites are spread across Thailand, Singapore, China, Cambodia, the Philippines, Europe, the United States, and other locations, forming a globally vertically integrated production system.

Business Model

Through a vertically integrated production system combining in-house-developed ultra-precision machining technology with large-scale overseas mass-production plants, the company supplies precision components such as Ball Bearings, motors, and semiconductors in high volume with high quality and low cost. Centered on its core "8 Spears" businesses (bearings, analog semiconductors, motors, access products, sensors, connectors/switches, power supplies, and wireless/communications/software), the structure expands earnings through the development and sale of composite and high-value-added products created by "combining" (aigou) these various technologies.

Company Strengths

The Precision Technologies Business achieved net sales of ¥281,151 million, operating income of ¥62,245 million, and an operating margin of 22.1% in FY2026 (ending March 2026). Ball Bearings hold the world's top share in HDD Pivot Assemblies, with ultra-precision machining technology and a vertically integrated production system underpinning strong price competitiveness and cost advantages.

The company has established large-scale mass production plants in Thailand, Singapore, China, Cambodia, the Philippines, the U.S., Europe, and other regions, building a vertically integrated system covering everything from raw material procurement to final products. Total capital expenditure in FY2026 (ending March 2026) amounted to ¥96,461 million, with ongoing capacity expansions in Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, Europe, the U.S., and other regions.

Through business integrations including Mitsumi Electric (2017), U-Shin (2019), ABLIC (2020), MinebeaMitsumi Power Device (2024), and MinebeaMitsumi Linear Motion (2025), the company has incorporated technologies in analog semiconductors, power semiconductors, automotive access products, and other areas, achieving a track record of progressively expanding its core "Eight Spears" businesses.

ENVALITH's Perspective

Profit attributable to owners of parent for FY2026 (ending March 2026) increased significantly to ¥99,034 million (+66.6% year on year). As an external factor, steady demand for data center servers and aircraft supported the Precision Technologies Business (operating profit of ¥62,245 million, +11.8%). In addition, fair value gains on held financial assets boosted financial income (¥40,908 million), lifting profit before tax to ¥133,779 million (+61.9%); it should be noted that this represents a one-off factor.

The company's forecast for FY2027 (ending March 2027) calls for increased revenue and operating profit, with net sales of ¥1,690,000 million (+1.5%) and operating profit of ¥120,000 million (+15.4%), while profit attributable to owners of parent is forecast to decline to ¥83,000 million (-16.2%). This is mainly attributable to the disappearance of the financial asset valuation gains recorded in FY2026 (ending March 2026). Heightened uncertainty from the US reciprocal tariffs and rising geopolitical risk as external factors means the likelihood of achieving the sales forecast warrants careful monitoring.

Cash flow from operating activities for FY2026 (ending March 2026) decreased substantially to ¥94,850 million from ¥133,672 million in the prior period. The main cause was an increase in trade receivables (-¥44,163 million), and the continued expansion of working capital accompanying sales growth warrants close attention. On the other hand, the Semiconductor & Electronics Business saw operating profit improve significantly to ¥26,669 million (+36.0% year on year) on higher sales of mechanical components, a development that is commendable as it contributes to earnings diversification across the group.

Growth Strategy

Advancing the expansion of high-value-added product sales and business growth through M&A, driven by the '8 Spears' strategy and 'Sōgō' synergies

Actively capturing server demand for data centers, primarily through Ball Bearings and Fan Motors. In FY2026 (ending March 2026), the Precision Technologies Business achieved sales of ¥281,151 million (+10.0%) and the Motors, Lighting & Sensing Business achieved sales of ¥456,517 million (+6.9%), with both businesses posting revenue growth, benefiting from the expansion of AI-related investment.

Under financial discipline premised on a D/E ratio of 0.2x, continuing to consider and execute highly effective M&A utilizing 50% of free cash flow and borrowings. Acquired MinebeaMitsumi Linear Motion Co., Ltd. in October 2025. Promoting the development and expanded sales of high-value-added products by creating 'Sōgō' (mutual fusion) synergies among different technologies and product groups.

The annual dividend for FY2026 (ending March 2026) is ¥50 per share (+¥5 year on year), with a payout ratio of 20.3%. For FY2027 (ending March 2027), an annual dividend of ¥60 per share (interim ¥30, year-end ¥30) is planned, to be determined with a target consolidated payout ratio of approximately 30%. Continuous dividend increases aim to improve capital efficiency and strengthen profit returns to shareholders.

While maintaining high credit ratings of R&I 'A+' and JCR 'AA-', the company is promoting longer-term fund procurement, including raising the long-term interest-bearing debt ratio to 45% at the end of FY2026 (ending March 2026). The ratio of equity attributable to owners of the parent stood at 49.5% (+2.6 points year on year), approaching the mid- to long-term target of 50% or higher, indicating steady progress in stabilizing the financial base.
