Business
Takamatsu Machinery Co., Ltd., founded in 1961, is a dedicated machine tool manufacturer that develops, manufactures, and sells CNC precision lathes together with peripheral equipment such as collet chucks and loaders in an integrated manner. In addition to its core Machine Tools Business (accounting for approximately 88% of net sales), the company operates the IT-related Manufacturing Equipment Business, serving the LCD substrate and semiconductor sectors, and the Automotive Parts Machining Business. Domestically, it operates through direct sales and a dealer network, while overseas it expands globally through seven subsidiaries in the United States, Thailand, Germany, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Mexico. Its main customers are manufacturers in industries such as automotive, electrical equipment, and precision instruments, and it is characterized by a solution-proposal-based sales approach that responds to labor-saving and automation needs.
Business Model
Rather than limiting itself to standard machine sales as standalone units, the company enhances added value by providing customization proposals tailored to customers' machining needs together with peripheral equipment such as automation units and loaders as a set. Domestically, sales opportunities are maximized by combining dealer channels with direct sales, while overseas, local subsidiaries and dealer networks are leveraged. Service and maintenance revenue also complements the revenue base. Research and development expenses of ¥161 million were invested in FY2026 (ending March 2025), continuing the development of new models and options.
Company Strengths
The company has consolidated subsidiaries in the US, Thailand, Germany, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Mexico, building a locally-rooted sales and service system. In FY2026 (ending March 2026), the overseas demand ratio was 37.1% (overseas sales of ¥4,155 million), and the company is executing product deployment tailored to regional needs, including the market introduction of the AT-1, a strategic model for Asia.
In addition to CNC precision lathes, the company develops peripheral equipment such as loaders and collet chucks in-house, giving it a technological foundation to provide integrated labor-saving and automation solutions. The XWT-8 has also received external recognition for its technology and design, winning the Japan Institute of Design Promotion Award at the 55th Machine Design Award (IDEA).
At the end of FY2026 (ending March 2026), the equity ratio was 78.1% (improved from 74.3% at the end of the previous fiscal year), net assets stood at ¥16,268 million, and total short- and long-term borrowings were only ¥1,207 million, indicating extremely low financial leverage. The company held total cash and deposits of ¥5,556 million, maintaining financial stability even during a period of weak business performance.
ENVALITH's Perspective
Performance Trend
Revenue peaked at ¥16,720 million in FY2022 (ended March 2022) and has declined for 5 consecutive periods, reaching ¥12,722 million in FY2026 (ending March 2026) (down 8.4% year on year). Operating loss has been on a narrowing trend: ¥386 million in FY2024 (ended March 2024), ¥160 million in FY2025 (ended March 2025), and ¥64 million in FY2026 (ending March 2026). Net loss attributable to owners of the parent also improved significantly, from ¥645 million (FY2025) to ¥164 million (FY2026). While external factors such as signs of a recovery in automotive-related demand and a rebound in orders in the machine tool industry have provided tailwinds, a foreign exchange loss of ¥117 million weighed on ordinary income (loss). The recovery in order intake and order backlog, as leading indicators, suggests the business has bottomed out.
Growth Strategy
As the second year of the Medium-Term Plan 2027, the Company will deepen measures to expand orders and sales, aiming to return to profitability in FY2027 (ending March 2027)
In April 2026, the Company newly established the Machine Tools Sales Division and the Machine Tools Production Division. By clarifying decision-making authority and accelerating on-site judgment, the Company aims to strengthen sales capability and production responsiveness, thereby achieving its performance targets.
The Company launched the strategic model "AT-1" for the Asian market at METALEX 2025 (Thailand). Through continued participation in overseas trade shows, development of new dealers, and strengthening collaboration with existing dealers, the Company aims to achieve recovery and expansion of overseas demand.
Beyond semiconductor manufacturing equipment, the Company is actively approaching companies related to IT-related materials and equipment to develop new customers. Together with expanding transactions with existing customers, the Company aims to strengthen the segment's role as an earnings-complementary business.
The Company is systematically promoting the development of new models in anticipation of expansion in the EV market, non-automotive fields, and overseas markets. By expanding high value-added options such as automation units and Both-end Machining Option / Automation Unit, the Company aims to improve order unit prices and strengthen competitiveness.
The Company targets net sales of ¥14,804 million (up 16.4% year on year), operating profit of ¥151 million, and profit attributable to owners of parent of ¥133 million. While converting the accumulated order backlog into sales, the Company will continue to control fixed costs and reduce costs.
