Business Details
The Japan segment is the core segment responsible for the Group's domestic operations. In addition to the mainstay Metalworking Fluids Business (net sales of ¥17,659 million), it is the only segment within the Group to operate the Cleanliness Business (net sales of ¥1,983 million). Major customers are automobile manufacturers and auto parts manufacturers, and the segment is also promoting sales expansion of new products addressing EV adoption and ESG orientation. It is also working to strengthen expansion into aircraft and non-automotive fields and to commercialize new businesses such as Hikari Action / Self-Healing Materials.
Recent Overview
Net sales rose slightly, but operating income declined 28.6% year on year due to increased expenses and personnel costs
In the Japan segment for FY2026 (ending March 2026), amid overall sluggish domestic automobile production, the company worked on price revisions and sales expansion, resulting in net sales of ¥19,643 million, up 1.1% year on year. On the other hand, although raw material costs showed signs of stabilizing, operating income declined significantly by 28.6% year on year to ¥581 million due to the impact of increased expenses and personnel costs. The segment's share of operating income also declined from 14.6% in the prior period to 11.5%.
