Business Details
Leveraging proprietary "precision bonding technology," this division manufactures and sells LCD Display Components, Touch Panel Sensor Substrates, and Automotive Parts. It procures glass and functional films from material manufacturers, and after precision bonding and sensory inspection in clean rooms, delivers products to panel manufacturers and others. In-house construction of production lines, sensory inspection technology, and multi-skilled worker training serve as sources of competitive advantage, and the division is also promoting expansion into automotive applications (center information displays, meter clusters, etc.). In FY2026 (ending March 2026), losses widened due to sluggish demand and lower capacity utilization.
Recent Overview
Net sales down 30.3%, operating loss widened, impairment loss of ¥1,250 million recorded
In FY2026 (ending March 2026), recovery in the domestic and overseas display and touch panel markets remained weak, and expansion of automotive applications was also limited. Combined with a decline in capacity utilization, net sales fell to ¥5,082 million (down 30.3% year on year), and the operating loss widened to ¥150 million (compared with a loss of ¥25 million in the prior period). In addition, an impairment loss of ¥1,250 million on fixed assets was recorded. For the next fiscal year, the division expects display mass-production projects to make a full-fledged contribution to performance.
Key Products
Growth Drivers
- Market expansion driven by increasing electronic functionality in automotive displays (center information displays, meter clusters, touch switches)
- Development and order acquisition of high-value-added products through advancement of precision bonding technology and use of leading-edge equipment and new materials
- Full-fledged contribution to performance from display mass-production projects in the next fiscal period (already incorporated into the consolidated earnings forecast for FY2027 (ending March 2027))
- Efficiency improvement in parts processing and manufacturing functions through utilization of intra-group collaboration with Toyosha Seisakusho Co., Ltd.
- Efforts to improve profitability through production efficiency improvements and review of cost structure
Risks
- Delayed recovery in final demand in the domestic and overseas display and touch panel markets
- Impact on order intake from progressing commoditization and standardization of products and intensifying competition, including from overseas manufacturers
- Sluggish orders due to revisions to production plans by domestic automakers
- Decline in demand in the automotive and electronics fields due to slowdown in the Chinese economy and inventory adjustments
- Increased fixed cost burden and risk of additional impairment due to declining capacity utilization
- Possibility that display mass-production projects may fluctuate depending on customers' production plans and sales trends, among other factors
