Business
Dynamic Map Platform Co., Ltd. is a company established in 2016, originating from the Cabinet Office's SIP project, whose core business is the generation and sale of high-precision three-dimensional map data (HD Map). Domestically, the company develops HD Maps based on common specifications shared by 10 Japanese automakers, while overseas it holds coverage of over 1.5 million km across 26 countries in North America, Europe, South Korea, and the Middle East. Its major customers include Toyota, Nissan, Honda, General Motors Company, and other major domestic and international automakers, with a track record of installation in 36 mass-produced vehicle models. In addition to its automotive business, the company also operates a 3D Data Business, which leverages high-precision 3D point cloud data through Viewer and Guidance products as well as government project orders, aiming to build common infrastructure for a digital society. The company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market in March 2025.
Business Model
Revenue is broadly divided into two types: project-type and license-type. Project-type revenue comes from HD Map development and update orders received from automakers and government agencies, with a cost-plus-margin structure centered on variable costs. License-type revenue consists of license fees and maintenance fees based on the number of units installed in mass-produced vehicles; the main fixed cost is the expense of updating completed map data, resulting in a high marginal profit margin. In FY2025 (ended March 2025), license-type revenue was ¥1,171 million, accounting for only about 16% of the total, but the structure is such that profitability is expected to improve as the number of installed units increases.
Company Strengths
Domestically, the company was established through joint investment by 10 Japanese automakers and provides a unified supply of common-specification HD maps. Overseas, it has been a partner of General Motors Company since the initial development of Super Cruise™, recording revenue of ¥3,211 million in FY2025 (ending March 2025). Including both disclosed and undisclosed cases, the company has a track record of installation in 36 mass-production vehicle models.
As of the end of March 2025, HD map development was completed for 33,000km (expressways and motor vehicle-only roads) in Japan, 1,200,000km in North America, 255,000km in Europe, and 20,000km in South Korea. This satisfies the coverage requirements demanded by automakers, forming a first-mover advantage that is difficult for new entrants to catch up with in a short period.
Using MMS (Mobile Mapping System) equipped with Multi-GNSS-compatible receivers, high-performance IMUs, and high-density LiDAR, the company is capable of collecting data with absolute accuracy within 10cm and relative accuracy within 1cm under favorable satellite positioning conditions. Specialized engineers oversee quality control at each stage of satellite positioning, measurement, mapping, and integration, achieving the precision required for autonomous driving Level 2+ and above.

Growth Strategy
Aiming for profitability through three pillars: expanding installed vehicle units, increasing the ratio of license-type revenue, and commercializing the 3D Data Business
Expanding the number of vehicle models and units equipped with HD Map through deepening relationships with existing customers in North America, Europe, South Korea, and the Middle East, as well as horizontal expansion to new automakers. Also promoting strengthened collaboration with Tier 1 parts manufacturers, semiconductor manufacturers, AI companies, and others.
Promoting expanded paid provision of Viewer Products (3Dmapspocket®) and Guidance Products (Snow Removal Support System (Guidance Product), etc.), as well as development of new licensed products through government project orders. Aiming to expand applications into infrastructure management, MaaS, disaster prevention, and other areas.
With HD Map development for major roads in North America now largely complete, expecting a personnel cost reduction effect of approximately ¥315 million in FY2027 (ending March 2027) through workforce optimization and other measures. Aiming to accelerate profitability improvement in the Overseas segment.
Capturing new demand through participation in the U.S. V2X Deployment Acceleration Plan (with a track record of receiving an HD Map order from the Utah Department of Transportation) and Japan's Digital Lifeline National Comprehensive Development Plan. Also promoting the construction of a data collaboration platform utilizing spatial IDs.
Promoting roll-up M&A aimed at building a surveying network, including the consolidation of Nihonkai Survey & Design Co., Ltd. as a subsidiary. Also continuing to consider alliance opportunities aimed at acquiring technology and know-how related to data analysis, AI utilization, and application development.
