Business Details

Manufactures and sells shochu (ko-rui, otsu-rui, and blended), chu-hi (RTD), sake, synthetic sake, Western liquor, alcohol for sale (for alcoholic beverage raw materials and industrial use), and seasonings. Godo Shusei Co., Ltd., Fukutokunaga Shurui Co., Ltd., and Akita Konjo Co., Ltd. among others handle manufacturing, while Wako Co., Ltd. and others handle sales. Major customers are AEON TOPVALU Co., Ltd. (13.0% of sales) and ITOCHU-SHOKUHIN Corporation (10.5% of sales). Amid structural headwinds of a shrinking domestic alcoholic beverage market and intensifying competition, the segment achieved increased revenue and profit driven by honkaku shochu, RTD, and Western liquor.

Recent Overview

In Q1 FY2026 (ending December 2026), sales were ¥19,407 million (up 8.5% year on year) and operating profit was ¥635 million (up 167.4% year on year), a substantial profit increase.

For shochu, "Hakata no Hana," "Sugomugi," and "Sugoimo" performed well, offsetting the decline in PB products, resulting in a 7.9% year-on-year increase. Chu-hi/RTD grew 13.3% year on year, driven by PB products and the "NIPPON PREMIUM" series. Western liquor achieved high growth of 21.8% year on year, driven by home-drinking demand products such as "Chu-hi Senka" and "Kaoru." On the profit side, the increase in gross profit from higher sales (+¥240 million), reduction in manufacturing expenses such as repair costs (+¥200 million), and the effects of product mix improvement and price revisions (+¥157 million) significantly outweighed the rise in raw material costs (-¥60 million) and increased SG&A expenses such as transportation costs (-¥140 million), resulting in a ¥397 million year-on-year increase in operating profit.
