This was mainly due to steady order intake for game planning and development and book editing, combined with strong royalty income. Growth Drivers

  • Steady order intake for game planning and development and book editing (net sales in H1 FY2026 up 23.2% year on year)
  • Strong royalty income (contributed to profit growth in H1 FY2026)
  • Expansion of overseas operations in Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand), with Indonesia net sales rising approximately 8.7-fold year on year
  • Order backlog increased 186.88% from the previous fiscal year-end to ¥87,157 thousand, expected to contribute to future sales
  • Continued improvement in profitability through business selection and concentration and fixed-cost optimization over more than a decade
  • Investment-related expenses in new businesses expected to contribute to profit over the long term

Risks

  • Risk of significant fluctuations in net sales due to the hit-or-miss nature of content titles (a main reason the company does not disclose earnings forecasts)
  • Risk of fluctuation in royalty income (profit levels vary significantly between strong and weak periods)
  • Rising fixed costs from increased personnel expenses and investment in new businesses (SG&A expenses also increased in H1 FY2026)
  • Litigation-related expenses at equity-method affiliate Group Lease PCL. continuing to adversely affect consolidated ordinary income/loss (equity in loss of affiliates of ¥317 million in H1 FY2026)
  • Possibility of additional equity-method investment losses arising from license revocation and liquidation proceedings against GL Finance PLC. by the National Bank of Cambodia
  • Uncertainty from ongoing litigation in multiple countries (Thailand, Singapore, Japan) brought by JTRUST ASIA PTE. LTD., including a new lawsuit filed in June 2025 seeking approximately 7,169 million Thai baht
