Business
ITmedia Inc. is an internet-only media company specializing in the IT, industrial technology, and consumer sectors. In its BtoB media business, it operates specialized media outlets such as "TechTarget Japan," "@IT," "ITmedia AI+," and "MONOist" as its core, deploying lead generation, digital events, research, and consulting services. In its BtoC media business, it generates programmatic advertising revenue through outlets such as "Nlab (Netorabo)" and "Fav-Log by ITmedia." With a reader base of approximately 60 million monthly unique browsers and approximately 350 million monthly page views, the company functions as a platform supporting corporate marketing activities. Its consolidated subsidiaries include Hachu-Navi Co., Ltd. and PP Communications Co., Ltd., and the company continues to expand its business domains through M&A.
Business Model
Information is provided free of charge to readers, while lead generation, digital events, advertising products, research, and consulting services are sold to meet corporate marketing needs. Lead generation accounts for the majority of revenue, leveraging a member database of 1.39 million to provide client companies with prospective customer information for IT products and services. In the BtoC segment, programmatic advertising is the main revenue source, and improvements in ad unit pricing (CPM) are a key factor determining business performance.
Company Strengths
At the end of FY2026 (ending March 2026), the number of lead generation members reached 1.39 million (up 2.3% year on year), and the company holds a high-quality prospect database specializing in the IT and industrial technology fields. The operation of the customer-facing data management platform "Campaign Central" has enabled the utilization and provision of AI intent data, contributing to improved transaction continuity with customers.
Leveraging high-quality, timely content produced by specialized editorial reporters, the company has built a reader base of approximately 60 million monthly UBs and approximately 350 million monthly PVs. In the BtoC segment, the CPM (cost per mille) improved 40.5% year on year to ¥530, demonstrating that improvements in content quality translate directly into revenue.
Since making Hacchu Navi a subsidiary in 2015, the company has continued to diversify its revenue model beyond the media business, as evidenced by the full consolidation of P.P. Communications Co., Ltd. (research and consulting) in October 2025 and Magiceminar Co., Ltd. (holding over 1,000 webinars annually, acquisition cost of ¥2,050 million) in April 2026.
ENVALITH's Perspective
Performance Trend
Revenue peaked at ¥8,753 million in FY2023 (ended March 2023), declined thereafter, and has since shown a mild recovery trend, reaching ¥8,101 million in FY2025 (ended March 2025) and ¥8,311 million in FY2026 (ended March 2026). However, operating profit declined for four consecutive periods, from ¥2,687 million in FY2022 (ended March 2022) to ¥1,765 million in FY2026 (ended March 2026), with the operating profit margin falling approximately 12pt from 33.2% to 21.2% over the same period. In FY2026 (ended March 2026), the BtoC media business achieved a significant profit increase (+71.9%) driven by improved advertising unit prices (CPM +40.5%), while the BtoB media business saw operating profit decline 29.1% due to a combination of reduced marketing investment by domestic SaaS clients and increased system and M&A-related costs. Net income was ¥1,191 million (down 20.4% year on year), declining more sharply than operating profit due to the additional drag from the absence of the prior period's equity-method investment gains and tax benefit effects. For FY2027 (ending March 2027), the company forecasts revenue of ¥9,200 million (+10.7%) and operating profit of ¥2,000 million (+13.3%), anticipating a shift to revenue and profit growth driven by the consolidation effect of Magiseminar.
Growth Strategy
Diversifying the revenue model through aggressive M&A and strengthened data infrastructure, aiming for EPS of ¥140 in FY2029
MagiSemi, which hosts over 1,000 webinars annually and has more than 200,000 members, was made a wholly owned subsidiary in April 2026 for an acquisition consideration of ¥2,050 million. By cross-referring customers with the company's own 2 million-member base, the company aims to expand its share of lead-provision services and reverse the ongoing decline in digital event revenue.
In October 2025, the company acquired a technology-sector research firm as a wholly owned subsidiary for an acquisition consideration of ¥83 million. The company will offer advanced research and consulting services centered on overseas exhibitions such as CES and MWC, diversifying the revenue model of the BtoB media business. From FY2026 (ending March 2026), it will contribute to subsidiary sales (total subsidiary sales of ¥802 million, 100.3% versus target).
Development of "Campaign Central," a customer data management platform, has progressed, and service provision to customers has commenced. By providing AI-analyzed intent data to customers free of charge, the company aims to enhance sales proposal capabilities and customer retention, thereby boosting lead generation and digital event revenue.
As part of the management response to capital cost and stock price awareness announced in January 2024, the company established a medium-term investment framework to expand its business domain in the digital marketing market. Two deals—P.P. Communications and MagiSemi—have been realized, with full-scale contribution expected from the next fiscal year onward. The company will continue to execute toward its medium-term target of EPS of ¥140 in FY2029.
The company has promoted improved editorial efficiency through the CMS renewal in May 2025, along with enhanced content quality tailored to reader preferences and platform trends. In FY2026 (ending March 2026), the advertising unit price (CPM) improved significantly to ¥530 (up 40.5% year on year), achieving 15.1% growth in sales revenue and an operating margin of 33.0% despite a decline in page views.
