Business
Thinklayer Corporation was founded in 1962 (formerly Aichi Electronics Co., Ltd.) and changed to its current company name in 2002. The company is a system integrator whose main customers are cable television operators, telecom carriers, and ISPs, and it handles everything from fiber-optic network construction to broadcasting equipment, center facilities, and optical communication terminals on an integrated basis. Its business consists of two segments: the Total Integration segment (design, construction, maintenance) and the Equipment Integration segment (equipment selection and sales). The group includes 3 consolidated subsidiaries and is listed on the Standard Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Net sales for FY2025 (ending December 2025) were ¥10,488 million.
Business Model
The company captures capital expenditure demand from broadcasting and telecommunications carriers, generating revenue by handling everything from system design to equipment selection, procurement, construction, and operation/maintenance on an integrated basis. It offers customization tailored to customer needs by combining in-house developed products (optical communication terminals, integrated management systems, etc.) with equipment procured overseas. As an order-based business, it has a structure in which the order backlog (¥3,930 million at the end of FY2025 (ending December 2025)) serves as a leading indicator of sales in the following period.
Company Strengths
Since its founding in 1962, the company has accumulated a track record of being first in the industry at key technological turning points, including Japan's first commercial CATV internet service support (1996) and Japan's first delivery of a cable VoIP system (2001). In FY2025 (ending December 2025) as well, the company conducted Japan's first 50G-PON field trial, demonstrating its capability to support next-generation communications infrastructure.
The company has an in-house group structure capable of completing the entire process—from business planning and system analysis, network design, and network construction, to system operation and maintenance. ENVALITH's Perspective
Performance Trend
Revenue peaked at ¥13,061 million in FY2021, then plunged to ¥9,965 million in FY2022. It subsequently showed a recovery trend, rising to ¥10,443 million in FY2023 and ¥11,711 million in FY2024, before falling back to ¥10,488 million in FY2025. Cumulative results for Q1 of FY2026 (ending December 2026) were sluggish, with revenue of ¥2,298 million (down 12.2% year on year) and operating profit of ¥147 million (down 29.3% year on year). The main cause was the transitional period between the discontinuation of older model sales and the shipment of successor models in the Equipment Integration segment, compounded by external factors such as instability in the procurement environment stemming from geopolitical risk. On the other hand, the gross profit margin improved to 25.7%, suggesting this reflects a temporary shift in sales mix rather than a structural deterioration in profitability. For the full year, the company forecasts revenue of ¥11,100 million and operating profit of ¥500 million, premised on a recovery in the Equipment segment in the second half.
Growth Strategy
Aiming for a full-year recovery in FY2026 through three pillars: deepening existing customer relationships, addressing next-generation telecom needs, and nurturing new businesses
Aiming to overcome the temporary decline in sales caused by the discontinuation of the previous model. The order backlog has increased substantially to ¥1,954 million (up 46.0% year-on-year for the same quarter), and the full-scale start of shipments of the successor model will be the main trigger for the sales recovery.
In March 2026, launched Japan's first commercial 50G-PON service for the CCJ Group. The strategy is to expand the construction and provision of ultra-high-speed optical internet infrastructure exceeding 50Gbps, thereby proactively capturing demand for next-generation telecom infrastructure upgrades.
Orders for the pole-mounted mini sub-center (a compact broadcasting and telecommunications facility installed on utility poles) have been strong, particularly in regional cities. As a key product driving the Equipment Integration segment's order intake of ¥1,132 million (up 28.1% year-on-year for the same quarter), the company will continue active order-taking activities.
Expanding a safety confirmation support service utilizing Wi-Fi signals to new customer segments such as real estate management companies and local governments. This is an emerging initiative aimed at expanding the business domain beyond the existing dependence on broadcasting and telecommunications operators.
