Business Details
IwaiCosmo Holdings, Inc. is the reporting segment whose primary function, as the group's holding company, is the formulation and promotion of management strategy. It generates almost no direct operating revenue from external customers, with the majority of revenue consisting of inter-segment internal operating revenue (dividends, management fees, etc.) from group subsidiaries (Iwai Cosmo Securities Co., Ltd., etc.). Dividend income from investment securities is also one of its revenue sources, and the company manages improvement of capital efficiency and maximization of ROE across the group as key management indicators.
Recent Overview
Segment profit expanded to ¥4,499 million, up 46.1% year on year, on the back of expanded subsidiary earnings
In FY2026 (ending March 2026), as Iwai Cosmo Securities' earnings expanded significantly amid a buoyant stock market, inter-segment internal operating revenue (management fees, dividends, etc.) to the holding company segment increased 48.6%, from ¥2,880 million to ¥4,280 million. Segment profit (on an ordinary income basis) increased 46.1%, from ¥3,079 million to ¥4,499 million, and net income for the period on a non-consolidated basis also increased 78.6%, from ¥3,014 million to ¥5,383 million. The recording of gains on sales of investment securities (extraordinary income) also contributed to boosting non-consolidated results.
Key Products
Growth Drivers
- Increase in inter-segment internal operating revenue (management fees, dividends, etc.) accompanying the earnings expansion of the group subsidiary (Iwai Cosmo Securities) (FY2026 (ending March 2026): ¥4,280 million, up 48.6% year on year)
- Increased profit contribution to the group as a whole from the earnings expansion of the securities subsidiary, driven by buoyant domestic and overseas equity markets (Nikkei Average closing the period at ¥51,063.72, up 43.4% from the prior period-end)
- Revenue contribution from dividends received and gains on sales of held investment securities, etc.
Risks
- Revenue of the holding company segment is substantially dependent on the performance of group subsidiaries, creating a risk that internal revenue will decline significantly in the event of deterioration in the securities market
- It is difficult to disclose earnings forecasts given fluctuations in economic conditions and market environment, resulting in a structure in which the earnings outlook is hard to establish
- There is a risk that fixed cost burdens such as taxes and public dues could squeeze segment profit if subsidiary earnings weaken
