Business Details
The Group's principal business is the manufacture and sale of clothing and other textile products. It operates in three product categories—Men's Clothing & Apparel Goods, Women's Clothing & Apparel Goods, and Accessories & Others—primarily through department stores as its main sales channel, while also utilizing directly-operated stores and e-commerce. The company holds multiple mid-to-high-end brands in the upper-middle market and mainly targets domestic consumers. Its subsidiaries include function-specific companies responsible for sewing and processing, overseas production support, and license management.
Recent Overview
Q1 net sales rose 0.6% year on year; operating profit improved significantly, up 210.5% year on year
In the first quarter of FY2027 (ending February 2027) (March to May 2026), spring and summer merchandise launches proceeded generally smoothly, and inbound sales—which had sharply declined the previous year—showed a recovery trend, resulting in net sales of ¥14,594 million, up 0.6% year on year. On the other hand, as inventory clearance, which had expanded at the end of the previous fiscal year, continued, the proportion of full-price sales declined, causing the gross profit margin to deteriorate (gross profit of ¥8,864 million, versus ¥9,059 million in the prior year). However, by curbing selling, general and administrative expenses to ¥8,750 million (versus ¥9,023 million in the prior year), operating profit improved significantly to ¥113 million (versus ¥36 million in the prior year). The company acquired 228,700 shares of treasury stock for ¥895 million, bringing the period-end balance of treasury stock to ¥898 million. Comprehensive income was ¥-398 million, due to a decrease in valuation difference on available-for-sale securities (¥-506 million). There was no revision to earnings forecasts, and the company maintains its full-year plan of net sales of ¥60,000 million and operating profit of ¥2,100 million.
Key Products

- Execution of new growth strategies, including expanding existing brands' business domains and developing new in-house brands
- Continued pursuit of organic growth measures through strengthening product and sales capabilities based on the medium-term management plan

- Gradual increase in dividend levels based on the DOE 4% policy and improved capital efficiency through share buybacks
- Improved share liquidity through a 1-for-3 stock split scheduled to take effect on September 1, 2026
Risks
- Risk of a downturn in the autumn/winter sales season due to irregular weather conditions (such as record-high temperatures and mild winters)
- Continued risk of a decline in the full-price sales ratio and deterioration of gross profit margin due to inventory clearance at the end of the previous fiscal year
- Continued slump in the mid-to-high-end market due to declining consumer sentiment and heightened defensive consumption awareness
- Instability in domestic and international political and economic conditions, supply shocks from soaring crude oil prices, and persistent price increases
- External uncertainties such as US tariff policy and geopolitical risks
- Risk of declining customer traffic within a sales channel structure dependent on department stores
- Downward pressure on net sales due to a decrease in the number of stores
