Recent Overview
Sales of flagship DuoSIM-5G declined 21.1% year on year, and segment loss widened
In the cumulative third quarter of the fiscal year ending July 2026 (August 2025 to April 2026), the Merchandise Sales Segment recorded net sales of ¥921 million (down 21.1% year on year) and a segment loss of ¥92 million (widening from a loss of ¥43 million in the same period of the prior year). Recovery in R&D investment for 5G among existing customers has not progressed, leading to a decline in sales of the flagship product DuoSIM-5G. Overseas merchandise sales also failed to secure orders, and full-year net sales are now expected to fall short of the initial forecast, resulting in a downward revision to the earnings forecast.
Key Products
Growth Drivers
- Recovery in R&D investment by telecom carriers and communication equipment manufacturers with an eye toward 5G-Advanced and 6G
- Market development and expanded sales of 5G-compatible products in overseas markets such as Europe, North America, South Korea, and India
- Sales of merchandise for local 5G and new expansion into the network security field
- Development of products addressing new technology areas such as AI-RAN and non-terrestrial networks (NTN)
- Capturing demand for multi-vendor adoption driven by compliance with O-RAN standard specifications
Risks
- Continuing downward trend in capital expenditure and R&D investment by telecom carriers
- Risk of downside in domestic sales versus expectations (continued slowdown in new customer investment)
- Risk of delayed order intake for overseas projects (projects that fail to be booked within the period and are postponed to subsequent periods)
- Decline in telecom carriers' investment appetite due to the absence of a killer service for 5G
- Disruption to global supply chains and suppression of customer investment due to US tariff policy and geopolitical risk
- Possibility of additional valuation losses on obsolete or long-stagnant inventory
- Risk of impairment losses on fixed assets (an impairment loss of ¥31 million was recorded in the fiscal year ended July 2025)
