Business
Kawaden Corporation is a major specialist manufacturer that produces custom-made power distribution and control equipment, including High/Low Voltage Distribution Boards, Control Panels, and Distribution Boards, for buildings, factories, industrial facilities, and large condominiums. With a long history dating back to its founding in 1926 and establishment in 1940, the company marked its 100th anniversary in March 2026. Its products are installed in large and mid-sized office buildings, hospitals, schools, factories, large condominiums, and other facilities across Japan, generating demand at the time of new construction or renovation. Production is carried out at two sites—the Yamagata Plant (head office) and the Kyushu Plant—with an integrated in-house structure covering research, design, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales service. The company is the only listed player in the custom-made equipment market and is listed on the Standard Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Business Model
The company adopts a custom-made approach, producing each unit individually according to product specifications designated by the customer, and provides an integrated in-house system covering everything from order receipt through design, manufacturing, delivery, and after-sales service. Because the products are heavy and bulky, and delivery schedules are deeply embedded in construction processes, they are unsuited to overseas production, resulting in a structure where domestic demand is served by domestic manufacturers. Net sales of ¥26,491 million (FY2026 (ending March 2026)) are generated entirely from the single segment of the Power Distribution & Control Equipment Manufacturing Business (Single Segment).
Company Strengths
Unlike competitors that rely heavily on outsourcing, the company has built a system that completes all processes in-house, from research, design, and manufacturing to sales and after-sales service. This enables flexible responses to specification changes and achieves thorough profitability management and cost reduction on large-scale projects. In FY2026 (ending March 2026), the operating profit margin reached 15.5% (operating profit of ¥4,117 million ÷ net sales of ¥26,491 million).
The power distribution and control equipment industry consists of approximately 2,000 manufacturers, but the company is the only listed company in the custom-type market, meaning that identifiable competitors are limited to unlisted companies. This rare position gives the company an advantage in credibility and brand recognition when securing large-scale orders. The order backlog at the end of FY2026 (ending March 2026) remained at a high level of ¥28,488 million (up 18.7% year on year).
At the end of FY2026 (ending March 2026), cash and deposits stood at ¥10,837 million (up ¥2,718 million from the previous fiscal year-end), and total net assets stood at ¥20,318 million (up 14.5% from the previous fiscal year-end). Operating cash flow generated ¥5,061 million, and ROE recorded 15.4%. Interest-bearing debt is centered on long-term borrowings, with total fixed liabilities at a low level of ¥1,227 million, indicating a high degree of financial soundness.
ENVALITH's Perspective
Performance Trend
Performance rebounded sharply from the trough in FY2023 (ended March 2023), with FY2026 (ending March 2026) net sales of ¥26,491 million (+9.4% YoY) and operating profit of ¥4,117 million (+58.9% YoY), both marking record highs. The operating margin improved substantially to 15.5% from 10.7% in the prior period. As an external factor, robust private-sector capital investment demand associated with large-scale redevelopment projects in the greater Tokyo metropolitan area, data centers, and semiconductor-related plant construction drove performance. Profit before income taxes was ¥4,117 million, and net profit was ¥2,932 million. Operating cash flow increased substantially to ¥5,061 million from ¥1,537 million in the prior period, and cash at period-end reached ¥10,837 million. Note that, as of June 24, 2026, a portion of the cash flow statement in the financial results summary (compensation receivable, changes in accounts receivable, and compensation received) was corrected; however, there is no change to total operating cash flow, total investing and financing cash flow, or the period-end cash balance.
Growth Strategy
Medium-term plan target for FY2030 (ending March 2030): Net sales ¥35,000 million, Operating income ¥4,000 million, ROE 10%
The company prioritizes orders for high-value-added projects such as large-scale redevelopment in the Tokyo metropolitan area, data centers, and semiconductor plants, aiming to improve profitability. The operating margin of 15.5% in FY2026 (ending March 2026) demonstrates these results, and the company will continue to strengthen project selection and pricing negotiation power.
The company is expanding production capacity to meet robust demand. Acquisition of property, plant and equipment in FY2026 (ending March 2026) increased significantly to ¥854 million from ¥321 million in the previous fiscal year, indicating that capital expenditure is now in full swing. Together with production leveling, the company aims to improve its ability to consistently meet delivery deadlines.
Against a backdrop of abundant cash generation, the company is strengthening shareholder returns. Dividend payments in FY2026 (ending March 2026) increased significantly to ¥946 million from ¥284 million in the previous fiscal year. Alongside efforts to improve capital efficiency toward the ROE target of 10%, the company will maintain its policy of continuous returns.
The operating income target of ¥4,000 million, originally set for FY2030 (ending March 2030), was achieved ahead of schedule in FY2026 (ending March 2026) at ¥4,117 million. Against the net sales target of ¥35,000 million, actual results for FY2026 (ending March 2026) were ¥26,491 million, and continuing to expand orders and enhance production capacity remain challenges.
