Business
NFK Holdings is a pure holding company centered on Nippon Furnace Kogyo Kaisha, Ltd., founded in 1950. In the Industrial Furnace Combustion Equipment Business, the company provides integrated design, manufacturing, sales, and maintenance of industrial furnaces, burners, and combustion equipment for a wide range of industries including steel, chemicals, ceramics, and automotive, based on energy-saving and low-NOx combustion technology. In August 2025, the company made Castrico Co., Ltd. a consolidated subsidiary, newly adding the Electronics Business—which handles semiconductor device design for LSI and FPGA, EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services), and mechatronics systems—thereby transitioning to a three-segment structure. Major customers include Toyota Motor Corporation (Industrial Furnace) and Lasertec Corporation (Electronics).
Business Model
The Industrial Furnace Combustion Equipment Business is fundamentally based on build-to-order production, and builds long-term relationships with customers by providing an integrated service from design and manufacturing through installation, maintenance, and parts supply. The Electronics Business combines continuous design and development orders with product sales across its three businesses of engineering, products, and systems. The holding company (Other segment) treats Real Estate Leasing income and Management Guidance Fees as stable revenue sources, and pursues enhancement of corporate value through expansion of its business portfolio via M&A.
Company Strengths
Based on energy-saving and low-NOx combustion technology accumulated since its founding in 1950, the company has concluded technology licensing and acceptance agreements with Italy's SAMIA, Canada's CAN-ENG, Taiwan's ITRI, and two South Korean companies. This domestic and international technology alliance network is a unique asset that is difficult for competitors to replicate in a short period, and it underpins a broad product lineup for diverse industries.
In the Industrial Furnace Combustion Equipment Business, the company provides integrated services ranging from product design, manufacturing, and installation to maintenance, inspection, and supply of replacement parts. The Maintenance Services and Parts Supply divisions generate stock-type revenue, forming a revenue structure that mitigates fluctuations in large-scale order intake. In FY2026 (ending March 2026), operating profit in this segment was ¥37 million, a significant improvement year on year.
As of the end of FY2026 (ending March 2026), cash and cash equivalents stood at ¥3,837 million, while interest-bearing debt remained limited at ¥598 million. The company maintains a substantial net cash position, giving it the financial flexibility to respond nimbly to M&A and capital expenditure opportunities. Net assets expanded 26.8% year on year to ¥6,539 million.
ENVALITH's Perspective
Performance Trend
Net sales had remained flat, moving from ¥1,946 million in FY2022 (ending March 2022) to ¥2,082 million in FY2025 (ending March 2025), but expanded sharply to ¥3,683 million in FY2026 (ending March 2026, up 76.8% year on year) due to the consolidation of Castlerico. Operating profit also doubled to ¥272 million (up 98.8% year on year), improving the operating profit margin to 7.4% (from 6.6% in the previous period). However, due to the recording of a loss of ¥164 million (extraordinary loss) related to the restructuring of Castlerico's DX business, pre-tax profit was limited to ¥156 million, and profit attributable to owners of parent decreased to ¥88 million (from ¥105 million in the previous period). External factors such as persistently high raw material prices, the continued weak yen, and US tariff hikes continue to heighten uncertainty in the business environment. For FY2027 (ending March 2027), the company forecasts net sales of ¥6,315 million (up 71.5% year on year), operating profit of ¥346 million (up 27.1%), and net profit of ¥105 million (up 19.7%), expecting further expansion from the full-year contribution of Castlerico.
Growth Strategy
Pursuing composite growth through the consolidation of the Electronics Business via Castrico and profitability improvement in the Industrial Furnace Combustion Equipment Business
Castrico Co., Ltd. was made a consolidated subsidiary (52.06% equity stake) in August 2025 through a share delivery transaction (4,693,500 shares delivered). The company incorporates three businesses—semiconductor device design, EMS, and mechatronics systems—capturing growth in the semiconductor manufacturing equipment market driven by expanding AI and EV demand. A loss on restructuring of the DX business of ¥164 million was recorded, completing the reorganization of the business portfolio.
Through thorough order and profitability management and cost reductions, operating profit in the Industrial Furnace Combustion Equipment segment for FY2026 (ending March 2026) is expected to improve substantially to ¥37 million (from less than ¥1 million in the previous period). The company will continue to pursue growth drivers such as ongoing large-scale automotive-related projects, an increase in overseas orders, and a recovery in environmental systems and petrochemical-related demand.
With the increase in the number of consolidated subsidiaries (including the addition of Castrico), there is growing scope to expand Management Guidance Fee income in the holding company segment. Operating profit in the holding company segment for FY2026 (ending March 2026) remains at a high level of ¥242 million, functioning as a stable earnings foundation for the group as a whole.
