Business

Serak Inc. upholds the management policy of "creating business through IT technology education (human resource development) and contributing to the development of society," and is an independent IT service company with over 3,000 in-house engineers and more than 1,000 business partners. Its core Digital Integration Business (net sales of ¥23,881 million) offers a wide range of services from IT infrastructure construction and operation to DX support and AI utilization. The company also operates the agricultural IoT platform "Midori Cloud" Business, as well as the Mechanical Design Engineering Business including 3D CAD, and works to solve social issues in IT, primary industry, and manufacturing. Listed on the Prime Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Business Model

The company primarily hires individuals without prior IT industry experience and trains them through its proprietary "Seraku Jonetsu Daigaku" (Seraku Passion University) program to a level where they can work as engineers within 1-2 months. The trained personnel are supplied to major SIers and corporate operations projects (onsite services), while being shifted toward high-value-added solution projects such as DX and AI (solution services) as their skills improve, thereby raising unit prices. Through this three-way integrated model of hiring, training, and sales, the company maintains a structure that simultaneously increases both talent supply volume and profitability.

Company Strengths

The company owns a proprietary program, "Serak Jonetsu Daigaku," which trains IT-inexperienced individuals into deployable engineers within 1-2 months. By combining over 3,000 in-house engineers with more than 1,000 business partners, it has built a stable resource supply system capable of handling large-scale projects. It has also obtained ISO27001 (ISMS) and ISO9001 (QMS) certifications.

In FY2025 (ending August 2025), the Digital Integration Business achieved net sales of ¥23,881 million (up 11.9% year on year), segment profit of ¥2,612 million (up 12.6% year on year), and a profit margin of 10.9%. On a consolidated basis, the group recorded net sales of ¥24,776 million and operating profit of ¥2,551 million, maintaining a trend of revenue growth for four consecutive fiscal years, demonstrating the stability of its earnings base.

The company obtained Expert certification under the Salesforce Navigator Program (January 2024) and provides Salesforce adoption support in collaboration with NTT DATA. It has also released "NewtonX" (ChatGPT Utilization Support for Corporations) and the generative AI service "AZUSA," demonstrating a track record of pioneering service deployment and partnerships with external partners in the AI and DX domains.

ENVALITH's Perspective

For the cumulative nine months of FY2026 (ending August 2026), the company secured revenue growth and operating profit growth, with net sales of ¥18,910 million (+2.0% year on year) and operating profit of ¥2,019 million (+0.5% year on year). On the other hand, total income taxes increased from ¥737 million in the same period of the previous year to ¥848 million, causing net income attributable to owners of the parent for the cumulative period to decline to ¥1,248 million (-5.1% year on year). The pace of revenue and profit growth has slowed significantly from the same period of the previous year (revenue +12.7%, operating profit +12.5%), clearly marking a transition away from the high-growth phase.

The full-year forecast remains unchanged, with net sales of ¥27,400 million (+10.6% versus the previous fiscal year), operating profit of ¥2,850 million (+11.7%), and net income of ¥1,870 million (+9.4%). Progress against the full-year forecast through the cumulative nine months stood at only 69.0% for net sales and 70.8% for operating profit, meaning Q4 alone would need to record net sales of ¥8,490 million and operating profit of ¥831 million. This level substantially exceeds the actual results for Q4 of the previous fiscal year (net sales of ¥6,231 million, operating profit of ¥542 million), and it should be noted that achieving this presupposes a heavy concentration of project execution in the second half.

In the Midori Cloud Business, cumulative nine-month net sales were ¥166 million (-17.5% year on year), and the segment loss widened to ¥99 million (versus a loss of ¥78 million in the same period of the previous year). In addition to the reversal effect from a large-scale project in the same period of the previous year, continued upfront investment has compounded the situation, leaving the outlook for profitability improvement uncertain. Furthermore, the structural risk of management dependence on the representative director continues, and intensifying competition to secure IT talent may also exert upward pressure on personnel costs, potentially squeezing profit margins over the medium to long term.

Growth Strategy

Shifting the earnings structure through AI/DX value-add enhancement and nationwide expansion of Midori Cloud

A dedicated AI team led by a CAIO (Chief AI Officer) drives both AI-based efficiency improvements in internal operations and AI solutions businesses for customers. Through the FDE Model, the company aims to deepen its presence at customer sites and create added value beyond conventional SI and cloud implementation by providing integrated support spanning business process redesign and AI implementation.

The company is promoting proposals with enhanced consulting elements in sales and business process reform projects as well as HR-related projects. Cumulative through the third quarter, the company achieved higher value-added services and improved profitability, with DX Domain revenue holding steady at ¥5,680 million (+0.4% year on year).

The company is expanding sales of its digitalization service for fruit and vegetable, flower, and rice distribution, released in March 2023, to JA (agricultural cooperatives) and producer organizations nationwide. By addressing common industry challenges in agricultural product collection and shipping operations, the company aims to create new markets by extending its core technologies (cargo tracking and traceability) horizontally into industries beyond agriculture.

Consolidated subsidiary Serak Business Solutions is strengthening its recruitment and training of engineers. Cumulative through the third quarter, segment profit improved substantially to ¥42 million (up 137.6% year on year). The company aims to expand its order-taking area through enhanced engineer value-add via training and geographic expansion (increasing the number of locations).
