Business Details
The Japan segment consists of five divisions: Insecticides (one-push mosquito repellents, cockroach insecticides, personal insect repellents, etc.), Household Products (clothing moth repellents, dehumidifiers, alcohol disinfectants, etc.), Gardening Products (insecticides/fungicides, herbicides, fertilizers, etc.), Sanitation Products (emulsions, oil-based agents, powders, rodenticides, etc.), and Other (mold manufacturing, termite treatment construction, etc.). The Company itself and domestic subsidiaries such as Nikko Sangyo, FS Bloom, and Fumakilla Total System handle manufacturing and sales. For overseas markets, exports are also conducted using PT. FUMAKILLA INDONESIA as a production base.
Recent Overview
Domestic sales declined 4.6% year on year due to a sharp drop in Insecticides sales, but the segment loss narrowed
Japan segment sales to external customers for FY2026 (ending March 2026) were ¥26,951 million (down ¥1,291 million, or 4.6%, year on year). Insecticides posted a large sales decline of ¥1,669 million due to reduced volume from unseasonable weather in early spring and a price revision, while Household Products increased 10.9% on strong performance of alcohol disinfectants and the new Aller Shut product, and Sanitation Products also increased 6.1%. The segment loss improved to ¥529 million from ¥713 million in the prior period.
Key Products
Growth Drivers
- Continued strong performance in the Household Products division (up 10.9%, driven by alcohol disinfectants and the new Aller Shut product)
- Stable sales growth in the Sanitation Products division (up 6.1%)
- Strong herbicide market in the fourth quarter within Gardening Products
- Strengthening of medium- to long-term product competitiveness through expansion of the R&D building and production facilities at Brains Park Hiroshima within the Hiroshima plant
- Promotion of collaboration in sales, development, and production through the capital and business alliance with S.T. Corporation
Risks
- High proportion of seasonal products such as insecticides, pollen countermeasure products, and gardening products, creating significant sales volatility risk from unseasonable weather (in FY2026 (ending March 2026), unseasonable weather in early spring was a factor in the decline in Insecticides and Gardening Products sales)
- Risk of decreased sales volume due to price revisions (in FY2026 (ending March 2026), Insecticides sales fell 11.4% due to volume decline following a price revision)
- Declining trend in cross-border e-commerce sales (affecting domestic insecticide sales)
- Intensifying competition from competitors and new entrants (competition in alcohol disinfectants within the Household Products division continues to intensify)
- Risk that sluggish personal consumption due to rising prices will suppress domestic demand
