It comprises four product categories: Gelatin (for food, capsule, and photographic applications), Collagen Peptide (for health food and beauty applications), Food Materials (stabilizers for processed meat and gelling agents for desserts), and Biomedical (medical-use Collagen and Gelatin). The Group has subsidiaries in Japan, India, North America, Asia, Canada, and other regions, sharing manufacturing and sales functions globally. In November 2025, the Group formulated its long-term management vision, "Lead in Asia. Challenge the World.," aiming to become the No. 1 company by sales in Asia within the Gelatin and Collagen industry.
Recent Overview
Despite lower sales, operating profit rose 18.7% on improved North American profitability, with margins improving substantially
In FY2026 (ending March 2026), net sales decreased to ¥38,048 million (down 1.8% year on year) due to lower sales in Japan and North America, while operating profit increased to ¥4,664 million (up 18.7% year on year) on improved profitability in North America and other regions, with the operating margin improving substantially to 12.3% (from 10.1% in the prior period). By product category, Collagen Peptide performed well, up 12.0%, driven by robust growth in protein demand in North America. Gelatin declined 4.9% due to lower exports to North America affected by tariffs, among other factors. In India, Gelatin production capacity is being expanded (from 4,500 tons/year to 7,500 tons/year) toward operations scheduled to begin in July 2027. Nitta Gelatin U.S.A., Inc. completed liquidation on July 2, 2025.

Risks
- Impact of U.S. tariff policy trends on Gelatin exports from India to North America (bovine bone Gelatin sales declined due to tariff impact)
- Sluggish demand for Collagen Peptide due to a decline in customers' Collagen product sales in Japan
- Rising resource and energy prices due to geopolitical risks such as the situations in Ukraine and the Middle East
- Foreign exchange risk (decrease in yen-converted value of overseas sales when the yen appreciates; assumed exchange rates: US dollar ¥150.00, Canadian dollar ¥109.66, Indian rupee ¥1.71)
- Intensifying sales competition in the global capsule-use Gelatin market
- Structural decline in demand for photographic-use Gelatin
- Impact of prolonged high prices on domestic consumption in Japan
