Business
PLAID, Inc. operates under the mission of "maximizing human value through data," and since March 2015 has provided the customer experience (CX) platform "KARTE" via a cloud-based model as a domestic SaaS company. For businesses operating websites and smartphone apps, it offers an integrated solution spanning real-time collection and analysis of user behavior data through to the execution and verification of personalization initiatives. The service has been adopted by 635 companies (as of the end of September 2025) across industries including e-commerce, finance, human resources, real estate, and media, with its scope of use expanding from the marketing domain into the customer support domain.
Business Model
The company's core revenue consists of monthly usage fees (subscriptions) for KARTE (for Web), KARTE for App, and KARTE Datahub, with pricing determined according to the MAU (monthly active users) of the client's service. In FY2025 (ended September 2025), the subscription revenue ratio stood high at 82.9%, underpinning stable recurring revenue. The structure allows for rising customer unit revenue through upselling (expansion of usage areas) among existing clients, with the standalone customer unit price reaching ¥1,347 thousand (up 19.5% year on year) at the end of FY2025 (ended September 2025). In addition to product revenue of ¥11,029 million, the company also recorded service revenue of ¥2,263 million from implementation support and other services.
Company Strengths
ARR at the end of FY2025 (ending September 2025) was ¥12,166 million (up 20.6% year on year). The standalone customer unit price has continued to rise, from ¥949 thousand at the end of FY2023 (ending September 2023) to ¥1,127 thousand at the end of FY2024 (ending September 2024) to ¥1,347 thousand at the end of FY2025 (ending September 2025), with upselling to existing customers serving as the main engine of revenue expansion.
The platform analyzes the "real-time" behavior of website and app visitors and enables the entire process—from customer analysis to campaign creation, delivery, automation, and verification—to be completed on a single platform. The ability to execute campaigns without requiring engineers has been widely embraced by companies struggling with a shortage of digital talent.
The service has been adopted by 635 companies (as of the end of FY2025, ending September 2025) across a wide range of industries including e-commerce, finance, staffing, real estate, and media. The subscription revenue ratio has been maintained at 82.9% (as of the end of FY2025, ending September 2025), achieving a revenue structure with high stability of recurring revenue while diversifying churn risk.
ENVALITH's Perspective
Performance Trend
Revenue has continued to grow at an annual rate exceeding 20%, rising from ¥5,445 million in FY2021 to ¥13,396 million in FY2025. Operating profit improved sharply from losses in FY2022 and FY2023 to ¥261 million in FY2024 and ¥1,432 million in FY2025, with profitability now firmly established. The full-year forecast for the fiscal year ending December 2026 (a 15-month transitional period due to a change in fiscal year-end) calls for revenue of ¥20,577 million and operating profit of ¥2,183 million. However, the cumulative forecast through the third quarter shows adjusted operating profit of ¥1,091 million (down 21.4% year on year) and operating profit of ¥880 million (down 29.1% year on year), indicating a decline in profit as flexible growth investment—including progress on hiring—weighs on profitability. Note that full-year year-on-year change rates are not disclosed due to the change in fiscal period (15-month period).
Growth Strategy
A three-pronged strategy combining deeper upsell cultivation, strengthened new customer acquisition, and business domain expansion through generative AI utilization
Expand the scope of KARTE usage from marketing to customer support and other areas, aiming for continuous growth in customer unit price. As of the end of FY2025 (ending September 2025), customer unit price stood at ¥1,347 thousand per company (up 19.5% year on year), progressing steadily.
Accelerate the accumulation of customer numbers by strengthening collaboration with partner companies and expanding hiring to reinforce the sales organization. Currently, the customer count remains flat, and improving the effectiveness of new customer acquisition is a challenge.
Strengthen the enterprise-oriented DX promotion framework through the subsidiarization of CloudFit. Aim to form new markets beyond the existing SaaS market by developing and offering new CX solutions utilizing generative AI.
