Business Details
This segment provides e-book sales via network distribution to smartphones, tablets, PCs, and other information devices. Through its flagship service "Renta!," it offers a wide range of comics, novels, practical books, and other content. In addition to domestic sales, it operates directly-run overseas sites for the English and Traditional Chinese versions, and also conducts distribution sales of English, Chinese, and Korean content through the overseas distributor AAG (Aldo Agency Global Co., Ltd.). The segment is also focused on increasing production of next-generation content (Tatecomi and Anicomi) and Original Content.
Recent Overview
Segment profit swung significantly into the black due to cost reductions despite lower revenue; membership surpassed 10 million
In FY2026 (ending March 2026), the E-Book Business saw revenue of ¥14,745 million (down 6.5% year on year), continuing the decline, but segment profit swung significantly into the black at ¥762 million (versus a segment loss of ¥141 million in the prior period), due to effects such as reductions in selling, general and administrative expenses. "Renta!" membership surpassed 10 million, and the company launched a commemorative campaign and a special "Kami Manga 1000" page. The company expanded measures on both the content and overseas expansion fronts, including the start of distribution of vertical short video content, the exclusive early distribution of "Renta!'s" first original short drama, and its exhibition at "Anime NYC 2025."
