Key Positives From The 2Q Results
Revenue rose only modestly, up +1.0% YoY to JPY 59,009M. Operating income grew faster, to JPY 3,410M (+7.1%). The Lifeline Business drove the gain, with segment profit up +38.9%. Strong shipments from the core Pipe Systems Division and affiliates confirmed that top-line growth flows directly to profit. The share buyback approved in August had reached roughly 90% of its monetary cap by end-October, showing concrete progress on capital efficiency.
- Lifeline Business: Profit of JPY 2,446M (+38.9%). Margin rose to 7.9% from 6.0% a year earlier, and the segment's profit gain alone exceeded the company-wide increase.
- Gross Margin Expansion: Gross profit margin improved to 27.3% (+0.7pt). Revenue grew while COGS stayed flat YoY, more than absorbing the +2.7% rise in SG&A.
- Industrial Construction Materials Business: Strength in the power sector at the Chemical Products Division delivered higher revenue and profit. Segment profit reached JPY 879M (+14.8%).
- Share Buyback: Against a JPY 5,000M cap, cumulative repurchases totaled JPY 4,518M (2,693,200 shares) by end-October, implying 90.4% completion (our estimate). Cancellation of the repurchased shares has also been approved.
- Cash Generation: Trade receivables fell by JPY 7,410M, supporting operating CF of JPY 4,691M. Sales of shareholdings raised a further JPY 1,810M.
Key Concerns From The 2Q Results
At the Machinery Systems Business, delayed customer orders at the Machinery Division cut revenue recognized over time. Segment profit fell -49.3%, roughly halving. On a standalone basis, consolidated 2Q operating income fell -24.6% YoY (our estimate), a sharp slowdown from a strong 1Q. As a result, the full-year plan now relies more heavily on a 2H catch-up. Extraordinary losses pushed net income down -2.6%. Interest-bearing debt also rose on higher inventories and stepped-up capex.
- 2Q Standalone Slowdown: Revenue of JPY 29,940M (-3.5%) and operating income of JPY 1,573M (-24.6%), both our estimates. This compares with +67.2% operating income growth in 1Q on a standalone basis.
- Machinery Systems Business: Revenue fell -8.7% and profit dropped to JPY 375M (-49.3%). Margin declined to 3.0% from 5.3%. The booking timing of order-backed projects will determine 2H results.
- Extraordinary Losses: Losses of JPY 627M comprised impairment of JPY 314M, plant relocation costs of JPY 170M and an industrial water volume reduction contribution of JPY 139M. Net income progress stands at 39.1%, below the 45.0% a year earlier.
- Inventory and Capex: Inventories reached JPY 25,831M (+15.9% vs. the start of the fiscal year). Capex rose to JPY 5,257M (vs. JPY 2,279M a year earlier), limiting FCF to JPY 1,267M (our estimate).
- Rising Costs Below Segments: Corporate adjustments widened to -JPY 290M from -JPY 82M a year earlier. Interest expense rose to JPY 186M (+39.8%).
Focus Areas / Items To Monitor Going Forward
- Hitting the full-year operating income plan of JPY 8,500M requires JPY 5,090M in 2H, or +4.4% vs. the prior-year 2H (our estimate). Given the 2Q standalone slowdown, booking the delayed Machinery Division projects in 2H is key.
- When will the production efficiency investments at the Pipe Systems Division and the partial integration of manufacturing processes at the Kagaya and Sakai Plants start to pay off? We want to gauge the Lifeline Business's underlying profit level once one-off costs have passed.
- The overall capital policy ahead of the next medium-term management plan. We will watch whether debt-funded buybacks continue and how they are balanced against financial soundness.
- Size of the Machinery Division projects with delayed orders, the outlook for 2H revenue recognition, and the status of the order backlog
- Quantified fixed-cost savings from integrating manufacturing processes at the Kagaya and Sakai Plants, and whether further costs will arise
- Total capex for the Pipe Systems Division, start-up timing, and expected contribution to Lifeline Business margins
- Capital policy under the next medium-term plan (ROE target, total shareholder return policy, ceiling on borrowing)
- Progress Rate on passing through rising raw material and energy costs, and the profitability assumptions for 2H

- Machinery Systems Business (Cast & Forged Materials Division): The segment as a whole posted lower revenue, but this division grew revenue.
- Machinery Systems Business (Machinery Division): Delayed customer orders reduced revenue recognized over time, cutting segment revenue by JPY 1,208M. The lower revenue reduced segment profit by JPY 364M.
- Lifeline Business (Valve Systems Division): Revenue declined. The segment also booked a JPY 314M impairment loss related to the integration of plant manufacturing processes.
Progress Versus Full-Year Guidance
Revenue progress of 45.0% is in line with 45.6% a year earlier. Operating income progress of 40.1% is slightly ahead of the prior-year 39.5% (both our estimates). The company is building inventory ahead of 2H shipments. Assuming a 2H-weighted pattern similar to last year, hitting the operating income plan requires a +4.4% uplift vs. the prior-year 2H. That said, the 2Q standalone slowdown and the booking timing of Machinery Division projects are swing factors.
| Account | Value (2Q Cumulative) | Full-Year Forecast | Progress |

- The company attributes the increase in inventories at the end of 1H to preparation for 2H shipments.
Changes To Guidance
Full-year guidance is unchanged from the figures announced on August 6, 2026. The company maintained its plan for higher revenue and profit: revenue of JPY 131,000M (+2.2%), operating income of JPY 8,500M (+5.5%) and net income of JPY 7,500M (+11.9%).
Commentary On Shareholder Returns

Cumulative repurchases reached 2,693,200 shares and JPY 4,518M by end-October. Cancellation of the repurchased shares has also been approved.
- Capital Policy Positioning: The company describes these measures as an early start on the capital policy for the next medium-term management plan. 1H dividend payments of JPY 1,760M and buybacks of JPY 3,068M together exceeded interim net income.
Financial Position
The company remains financially sound, with an equity ratio of 59.9%. Interest-bearing debt rose as capex and buybacks were funded with long-term borrowings. Even so, Net Debt/EBITDA remains below 1x, leaving room for further use of leverage.
